Given the Laker's dire performance on defense, KDP should be a welcome relief. How much and in what ways can KDP help others play D

Where should KDP rank is the list listed at http://www.nba.com/article/2017/08/21/top-ball-defenders-nba-kawhi-leonard-andre-roberson-avery-bradley

Have not seen enough of him to place him on that list.

So far I like the potential though. His highlight reels and comments I have seen are promising. Going to interesting to see if he improves to the point he belongs on that list by next year.

Just another reason I am excited to see how this roster meshes together this season. IMO he can be a valuable piece of the puzzle.

Hard to believe he's been left off of this list. I'm sure that will change after this season. Los Angeles will give him the exposure he needs

I think he works hard, but the metrics don't have him anywhere near the top. Maybe around average to slightly above average, which is elite at least on the Lakers (we've had poor defenders the past 4 years).

Maybe not the best defender but the best defender overall.

KCP is probably going to be the club's best perimeter defender this season, and having said that, I think it's still unclear how effective he is to be for us in 2017-18.

I think it's fair to characterize him as a having high potential for the next couple seasons. I think it's also fair to consider his career to-date as a defender as staked out points towards mention as a top fifty perimeter defender in the league, but that's about it. Having potential to be very good, that's where he has shown himself to be today.

At first I thought it was a typo, but then he typed it 3 more times. Obvious troll is obvious.

This is from the makers of Steve black and such.

I really wish we would stop overhyping KTP. Let's just let his play do the talking.

No one ever mentioned his initials as an elite defender prior to him coming here. He doesn't suddenly become one now that he is a Laker.

Just let him play and we will see what he can and cannot do.

Let's put it this way.

If Pope wasn't a Laker, and we had a thread here about the best on-ball defenders, the over under on votes he would receive would be 0.5.
