That's a big deal for the Lakers' future.
But that has to be tough to break off that long of an engagement. Whatever the circumstances, I hope it's for the best. Jeanie quoted Phil's tweet wishing him the best, so it doesn't sound like it's a bitter end.
Sounds like Phil wants to settle down in New York for the long term. _________________ Austin Reaves

FINALLY this will be the end of those bogus "Phil Jackson to the Lakers" rumors.
And yeah, it was obvious some time ago that Phil was never going to marry Jeanie, their "engagement" was closing in on a decade.
Hopefully this will lead to more unity within the Lakers front office. |

These things always suck. All the best to Jeanie and Phil. |

Not just here, but the media too. I was drinking the kool-aid the past couple years about bringing Phil over.
It's kind of messed up, but I'm breathing a big sigh of relief. _________________ Austin Reaves

Surprised it lasted this long considering they were living 3000 miles away from each other. |

I'm happy cause now Jeannie can focus on basketball instead of the media brining up Phil every time. This is great news for both Laker fans and New York fans. |

Sorry to hear that. Though I must admit I like what it rules out for the Lakers |

Wow. Can't say I expected this, but it also isn't surprising considering the distance and their demanding jobs. As a Lakers fan, it may be for the best, but Jeanie did seem to genuinely love Phil. So it is a bit sad, imo. |

Is it me or does this give the Phil comeback rumors more legs? They're still in love it's only the distance keeping them apart.. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

Do you think Phil will leave his GM job to come back to LA? I don't. Especially when the GM job is already taken. |

That's just ridiculous. Not my job to meddle into anyone's privacy but to me that's just sad. They spent so many years together for what?
Thats one problem I have with North American relationships. So superficial and often empty. I'm so glad I traveled and developed different set of values.
Both of them have so much money, have achieved all the success in the world, they don't have to ever work a day in their life again but they chose to prioritize a career over a person they presumably love. Just comes off as really sad from the outside looking in. But hey, its their life, they have their reasons, only they know whats up. |

I find it funny that people are buying the "distance" excuse. A big knock on Phil Jackson is that he's never around the Knicks offices. That dude just didn't want to get married again. They got engaged back in 2012 around this time, we're almost in 2017. They had been dating since around 1999. I've seen this exact same thing with people I know personally, "distance" is just an excuse, Phil didn't want to get married. |

No offense to anyone, but thank God! We really don't need him and his triangle posse anywhere near the Lakers! |
