Also consider how much money the guy would be taking from Brooklyn while not playing for those 4 years...

No wonder he was ducking the physical

Neither Brooklyn or Houston walked away. Brooklyn signed him to a multi year deal and Houston matched. Houston eventually walked away because of issues unrelated to his back. It doesn't appear that the Laker medical staff even performed a physical on him. He just worked out. And since he could have been had on a 1 year deal this was a missed opportunity with zero risk.

That's not true, because when they walked away (and yes, it was the back), Brooklyn had free rights to him, and they also passed. FWIW, Lakers worked him out because they thought Nance's injury might be worse than it turned out...

How are you a moderator and you don't even know the simple facts? Brooklyn didn't walk away. They offered him a contract, Houston matched, Houston rescinded their offer and Brooklyn had to wait a year to offer him another contract per the CBA.

Guess who else doesn't know simple facts? By matching Brooklyn's contract, Houston couldn't trade him for a year without his approval nor could they trade him at all to Brooklyn. Once Houston released him he was no longer a restricted free agent, so any restrictions were removed. Brooklyn could have signed him as an UFA, which is what he was until NO signed him. And it was Detroit where he failed a physical due to his back.

Teams who trade for him will do it if they think Milsap puts them over the top, maybe Boston for example for a season-rental to make a run to the finals.

That team can do some damage in the playoffs.

Brooklyn couldn't have re-signed him. Once you sign a player to an offer sheet you can't sign them again for a year. Even if Nance's injury was better than expected, you still have a chance sign a productive player to a 1 year deal at a steep discount. It's a cant-lose situation. In the worst of scenarios you've lost Metta and DMo can't play because of his back. So what? I respect that the Lakers didn't want to sign a guy they didn't think they'd play much, but we aren't exactly overflowing with talent. Cheap and potentially valuable assets should be gathered as often as possible. Just feel like we passed on a no brainer flyer here.

Yeah, got you on the Brooklyn part. My bad. The back stuff is real according to sources though.

I wonder why New Orleans didn't ask for a physical considering that his back might eventually lead him to retire? If its a 1 year deal then I can see Ocho's point about it being a low risk move.

He will have to pass a physical in NO if they want to insure his contract. It is a vet min prorated contract, with the league paying a portion of his salary as with all vet minimum contracts. So it is a low dollar risk. I would assume the Lakers worked him out and thought he wouldn't add anything to the team.

S‎ources told ESPN.com that the Hawks, fearful of losing Millsap in free agency without compensation in the summer, are not openly shopping him but are taking calls on the 31-year-old and other pending free agents, notably sharpshooter Kyle Korver and swingman Thabo Sefolosha.

Horford got away from Atlanta and Milsap so he wouldn't have to play center and is doing very well for Boston at PF.

Atlanta will probably have no leverage to ask for anything major, Jaylen Brown/Marcus Smart/Amir Johnson + multiple 1st round picks (via Brooklyn) is a good overhaul for a team that will lose Milsap in the summer.

Raptors should seek Milsap and start Noguiera and move Vallencunas.

Boston should have traded for DeMarcus Cousins when they had the chance earlier in the season.

He got away from Atlanta cause they kept getting swept by Cleveland in the playoffs. And also Boston has better talent then any team Horford played with in Atlanta.

And Horford is happy playing PF and not center in Boston, so don't expect them to change that.

The Celtics are going to be one of the top teams in the league no matter what. They have lots of ammo to get better and lots of inexpensive pieces in place. Locally, they are saying that a trade for Noel and the signing of Hayward are very strong possibilities. They also think that they will be able to keep their valuable picks from those dopes in Brooklyn. Very impressive lineup:

Thomas
Bradley
Hayward
Al
Noel
