More likely Jesse is handling things.

If you read the reports, Glen Cararo has been working the phones with Magic. Oh, BTW, they just developed this new technology where you can phone from a plane!

yeah, but it cost a fortune

Per the press release announcing the Ennis acquisition, the Lakers also received the draft rights to SG/SF Brad Newley. Just reading from the press release, Newley is 32 and was drafted in the 2nd round in 2007. He's been on Australia's Olympic team twice and currently plays for AEK Athens in Greece. Any international experts out there that want to provide a scouting report?

You can trade those with nothing else for things. Sort of circumvent the CBA.

Future trade. Lakers send 3.5M + random draft rights for a 2nd round pick.

$3.5M would be quite a hefty price for a 2nd round pick.

We just paid about $10M for a 24-27 pick. JC at #46 was $2M. I guess it depends on how much you believe in the guy you are buying.

Danny Ainge is always calling former Celtics who work in the front office. Magic should've done business with other former Lakers that are in the front office. He should've called Phil, Riles, Jerry West and Vlade.

Not many teams were willing to commit $20m a year to Noel..

But teams were quick to give guys like Noah/Mozgov/Mahinmi 16-18M a year. I agree though, it will be interesting to see what he signs for. The Mavs were the team most likely to offer him a big offer sheet, now they have his rights.

So far, Justin Anderson is nothing more than a stronger Anthony Brown.

No doubt, the money spent on Mozgov/Noah/Mahinmi was crazy, but at least it was done in the 1st year of 2 big cap increases.

Noel's max next year will be north of $25m and more than likely, if you're going to trade for him, you better be willing to pony up close to that amount to keep him.

Didn't do anything crazy, made the inevitable Lou for a 1st move, got a look at a 22 year old in exchange for a 33 year old, and may or may not have had a hand in getting the strongest "I want to go to LA" message across from a star player in years.

Solid deadline for Magic.

I'm old. It seems like a couple of years ago you could buy a 2nd for $500K.

He'd have been great on our 08-11 teams. But I'm very excited about whoever we pick up with HOU's pick.

I still cant believe Noel went for 2 2nds. For hindsight, we were given 2 2nds to take back Calderon. PJ Tucker went for 2 2nds. Great job by Cuban.

The second best deal of the deadline behind the Cousins steal. Colangelo tried to play chicken with the league and even with Noel performing damn well in limited minutes, he still lost.

I blame Hinkie for that. Noel was traded for peanuts. Okafor isn't even worth peanuts.

They traded Jrue Holiday to get that pick for Noel. Granted he'd have (bleep) up the tank, but imagine if they trade Noel for Jrue now

Yup.

Shame he didn't fit with our timeline, but he's going to do great in Houston.

I would have held onto him...maybe he accepts $15-$16 Million...even $18 Million....if he kept playing well, move him next year for an expiring and a couple future first round picks. I think the guy can be a defensive monster, and develop a serviceable offensive game like Gobert.

Our timeline for contending will hopefully be in 2018 when he is a free agent....He could always return.

Huh? He drafted Noel @ 6...and he is arguably the 2nd best player in that draft. I think Noel may be a better talent than Jrue.

Houston is kind of the perfect destination for Lou
fast paced team, shoot a lot of 3's, play no defense
fits Lou to a T

Yup. And when the playoffs come Lou will be Lou (I.e. No more foul calls).

Right draft choice. Wrong everything else. Especially the "oh let's showcase Jah to up his value" which led to them selling low on Noel.
