Unfortunately, I feel like we've had a lot of "worst loss of the season"s this year. I'm not sold that we've hit rock bottom yet.

The term "fake hustle" has never been more appropriate. You have to laugh at some of the closeouts in that video. "Look at me, I'm playing defense!"

Thanks, GT.
I really hope that someone on our training staff is watching those videos.

From my playing days I remember when I knew my opposition couldn't block my shot or stop me from getting in the paint I almost always had a field day. The mental advantage a player gets knowing you can't stop them or even bother them really only grows as the game goes on. The Lakers have a bunch of players who allow the opposition to get in a zone (so to speak) and when that happens it's very difficult to stop it.

Carlise is a master strategist and he probably has the Lakers scouted as well or better than our own coaching staff. Plus, Cuban has it out for LA so it's a vendetta game of sorts for them.

I like the phrase "Fake Hustle!"

It is like when a temp is trying hard to look busy to keep the assignment - lots of work to get nothing done

I thought Luke's post-game comments were spot on point.

Sometimes you gotta get your face really smashed in for things to start sinking in.

Sometimes it takes more than once.

They're learning what the baseline effort/focus/intensity level has to be at. Likewise, they're learning that they're nowhere near where they need to be to compete in this league.

It'll be very interesting to see how they move on from this and what adjustments they make.

It's all part of the ride!

I was in the arena for this one and leaving, said the same thing GT said "worst loss of the season". It was definitely a rough look from in house. That being said I agree with you. And I'm looking for that moment too. When the effort/focus/intensity all start to churn in unison for the squad it'll be a sweet manna from Heaven. I knew the team would struggle but I'm praying the Mavs game is the low point. It's almost as if that game happened last season. Here's hoping we'll see some improvements in the three key areas you named.

I was expect more against a team with a (slightly) worse record, without two key players: Dirk & Barbera, and playing at home...

Well hopefully everyone has the wins vs the Warriors & Rocketts recorded, because those will no doubt be the biggest wins of the year...!
