I'd bet those numbers swing wildly with/without Lonzo, but I don't have the time to look that up right now. |

Great vid GT! Of your content, these individual player deep dives are still my favorite. |

Didn't realize Hart was statistically that bad on defensive ISO situations...obviously it's a limited sample sow but from the eye test he looks like he has the tools to be at least an above average man defender long term. What are your thoughts GT? |

Have you ever brought up Synergy/SportVU data with the players? |

Based on the screen defense, as well as that nice Clarkson play out of a timeout, it seems like Luke did a pretty nice coaching job against the Pacers. Also, I didn't understand why Julius got pulled so early in the 3rd, but your screen analysis shed light on that. Great stuff!
More than anything, I'm thrilled to see the Lakers hold a team to 86 points in the modern NBA. The fact that we've won a couple ugly games on our defensive improvement this year speaks volumes to our potential. _________________ "I like looking at a guy's face when he realizes that even his best moves aren't going to work on me all night. W/O statistics, I would never have guessed he was bad in ISO defensive situations either. I'll take a shot at it by saying that perhaps the reason is in ISO situations the best defenders are probably going to have excellent lateral foot speed, as well as other factors like experience, which helps to anticipate tendencies, etc.,
Hart impresses me with his sense of how to play defense. Experience will/can make him an almost elite defender. My guess is that in the area of lateral foot speed, he's good to very good, but maybe not great.
Looking forward to GT's insights as well. I could be way off in my analysis. I don't follow statistics very closely, so I'm going by my eye test. |

I also think there's a competition factor there. Hart is being asked to guard some of the best scorers in the league. Harden. Giannis. Oladipo. Melo. These are guys averaging 20+ a night. Most rookies aren't thrown into the fire for the amount of minutes he's getting, possession after possession. His numbers are bound to be ugly as a rookie up against such pros. _________________ "I like looking at a guy's face when he realizes that even his best moves aren't going to work on me all night. Does Jordan Clarkson have more 4th quarter turnovers then most guards? It could be a incorrect impression I have watching his game. Maybe someone with access to synergy or swoosh can look that up. It feels like he has a high percentage of late game turnovers. He is carrying the team right now and I love his improvement as a player this season. _________________ "Bobbin' and weavin' and let the good get even" |

Great job pointing out why Randle and the starters got pulled early in the third. I saw a lot of people questioning this in the game thread. I thought it was a good move by Luke. |

I remember this dude got me once in PnR coverage going right. I know it's the gym, but I hate getting burned. I talk to a teammate I've never met before and we basically just did this.
Then again, I think that dude just basically overheard the conversation and thought, "oh he might now is stuff" and then kept forcing right into TOs anyway. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Thanks again GT! Clarkson showed some impressive court awareness during this most recent game. I'm not used to seeing that out of him. I hope this iteration of Jordan Clarkson sticks around a while.
Caruso and Nance - good insights on their contributions - great games from both.
Randle - brute force over Porky. Wow.
How did that Knick fan describe JR on the Knick forum quoted in the QFTOS thread? "(bleep) Randle is one brontasaurus looking ass mother (bleep) "
I really enjoyed watching Randle own Porzingis. Over and over and in so many ways. Good stuff GT! |

Porzingis's defense was looking mighty overrated in the Knicks game. At least the sections I caught. |
