Good podcast GT - very interesting comments on Kuzma. I'm real optimistic on what he could do for this club alongside Ball in the long run, or even this year.
Very interesting discussion at the end showing 2 different ways of looking at the defense, or even player development: from a results perspective, and from a process perspective.
From a results perspective, the easy comment is "they're young, give them time." Or "he's had 4 years, the results just aren't there." And to an extent that's true.
But from a process perspective, it's interesting that all the Lakers are making the same kinds of mistakes, such as overhelping on defense, which begs the question what if any effort to correct this is going on, or are teams going to burn us all year? Or for that matter, Ingram's footwork, the difference between what order Kahwi was brought along versus BI being asked to be top dog on isos long before he's developed a complete game. And of course Randle's worked hard on his 3 point shot, but if he's out there in the shootaround twisting midair on some shots is the assistant shagging rebounds going to stop him, intervene, and show him the proper form?
Interesting questions indeed. |

Excellent video, as always. I didn't catch yesterday's game (I have it recorded) but it seems like Randle is starting to do all the little things that we criticized him for? Setting better screens and rolling with purpose, off ball defense, etc.?
It's a shame his jumper is so ugly though. That twist is nasty. |

Thanks for the highlights and analysis on the Lakers win over the Kings yesterday. Pretty encouraging seeing what they're doing right. |

Random question for you GT, but projecting long term, how many players in this last draft do you take over BI? |

Great analysis, as usual! I like that you highlighted Ingram's tendency to go right. If he can mix up his game (and hit a jumper), we can get back to the up-and-coming BI we saw at the end of last season. _________________ "I like looking at a guy's face when he realizes that even his best moves aren't going to work on me all night. Simmons and probably Murray. That's it. Just a god-awful draft. |

Sorry, meant the 2017 draft. 2016 was too trashy to even bring up. |

I'm not GT but knowing what we know only from Ingram's college performance, I'd probably want to take him 5 or 6 where Fox & Isaac were drafted. I did like Ingram at the draft and thought he fit like a glove next to DLO & Randle.
Knowing what we know now? I'd draft Fultz, Ball, Tatum, Jackson, Fox, Isaac, Smith Jr, and Malik Monk (crazy underrated) over him. I really liked Luke Kennard for the Lakers after Monk if they found another pick... It feels so wrong writing Kuzma, he's 2 years older, but is BI looking likely to become the kind of scorer he is? _________________ Austin Reaves

My favorite podcast so far. I liked that you guys a little more into the technical aspects of the game. It was educational.
And I hope you're wrong about our coaching staff. I'm sure you do too. _________________ I'm a Balliever. |

It's crazy that his 3-point shooting has been the least impressive part of his offense so far. |

The craziest thing is that we're seeing the worst version of him as an NBA player right now. He's only gonna get better...this is just him as a "deer-in-the-headlights" rookie. |

Even if you took out the hot three shooting from summer league and made him just average or below average shooter, he was still doing a lot of other things out there. He's legit. |

I'm trying not to jump the shark, but if Kuz keeps this up he'll be the best player on the team. As a rookie that's crazy |

The footwork...the balance...the aggression...the confidence...he knows he belongs and is hungry to establish himself...and we go him at 17...my God. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."
