What are your ideas if the goal is:

1. to win as many games;
2. ensure our young players get needed PT/improvement.

I'd consider:

DLO
JC
Ingram
Jules
Moz

I'd give Zub 12-14 mpg, and Nance plays both PF/C backups too.

Obviously have to sprinkle out the minutes (assuming they're here) for Lou, Young, Deng.

What are you thoughts on how to achieve these dual goals?

That's a good starting line up but I worry a little about the 2nd unit. Young/Lou/Deng...

Why worry about Young / Lou / Deng for a few minutes when we are running Young / Dlo / Deng as our #1 option?

JC
Young
Ingram
Randle
Zubac

JC, Ingram, and Randle 35 mpg. Zubac 30 mpg. The rest depends on how well they're playing throughout the game and how much effort they're showing.

C: Zubac

SF: Ingram
SG: Clarkson
PG: Russell

with a second unit of

C: Mozgov
PF: Nance
SF: Deng
SG: Young
PG: Williams

I thought you had soured on Ingram, Jules and Young, yet you'd rather have them play over DLO? Makes no sense.

Oh wait it does.

My opinion is that a player should only get minutes for 1 of 2 reasons: (i) help the team win or (ii) to develop. Breaking down Lakers roster into these 2 categories should be fairly easy.

Develop

1. Russell (PG)
2. Randle (PF)
3. Clarkson (SG/PG)
4. Ingram (SF/SG)
5. Nance (PF)
6. Zubac (C)

Maybe Develop

7. Black
8. Robinson

To Win

9. Williams (SG/PG)
10. Young (SF/SG)
11. Mozgov (C)
12. Deng (SF/PF)

Outside Looking In

13. Huertas
14. Calderon
15. Peace/Artest

Lakers don't have any superstars and I wish they would play like the 2004 Pistons; share the ball, maximum effort on defense (Ingram filling Tayshaun's role until he further develops offensively). Currently Clarkson, Young, and Williams have overlapping roles on the team and I think we should trade one of them.

1. Lou - currently best player of the 3 with team friendly contract.
2. Young - turned it around this season. Teams might be turned off by his personality.
3. Clarkson - youngest of the group. Decent contract, most athletic.

I would try to trade Young for a future 2nd round pick. I would also try to unload Deng due to his contract. One trade is sending Deng to Minnesota with Young (or Lou if they prefer) to reunite with Thibs and provide veteran leadership to them. We would get Rubio in return to start at PG and shift Russell to SG.

Completely agree with all of this, if there was a way of trading Mozgov I would explore the option but with his contract it's not going to happen. If the Lakers could get a 1st round pick for Lou Williams or a player who plays good defense I would be open to the trade.

Just pair up the players that seem to have the most chemistry with each other. Watching this team, I have no idea who that would be. They're completely lost on defense and some of the players go into gunner mode too much.
