At this point, it seems like the only two players who are indisputably better than LeBron are Kareem and Jordan. Is he above Magic already, or does he need another ring for that? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

The word "indisputable" has no application in these discussion. If I felt the urge, I could construct a plausible argument that Lebron is the GOAT, or that Superboy is right about him. Well, maybe not the latter.

Lebron is one of the best production wise, however he acts like a (bleep) on the court. And frankly my dears, I am just not a fan of that type of behavior.
And also frankly my dears, Magic as my pick over LJ anytime.
And also frankly my dears, I don't give a damn.

I think Lebron has to win another title. Right now in the moment, it's easy to overlook his 3 championships to 5-6 of guys like Kobe,Magic or Jordan.
I feel you would see this sentiment fade if he retired without enough landmarks like a higher title count or ranking highly in a cumulative statistics like scoring (top 5).
Of course it looks like he has the conditions to win another title, the Easy is bad and his team is elite. I feel you can project they should be in the finals the next 2 years if the Cavaliers big 3 remain healthy. After that it's hard to tell because roster turnover can happen quickly in the league.

Not just on the court. Magic is a player you want to start a new league with. LeBron? Better not have him around with his decisions in any kind of league. He is no doubt a good player and athlete. But to answer the question you need to define better. Better at filling stat sheets, better at flopping, better at court vision, better at defense...?

"Better" is a vague word. Some people think that means intrinsic basketball skills, some people think that means accomplishments (rings, awards, stats), and 12 other people could give you 12 other definitions.
Right now, on my all-time list, I'd rank Magic above Lebron. That said, they are definitely on the same tier, and I could understand how someone else would place Lebron above him.
I voted LeBron and it hurt. But I love the way he plays and the title he just won over the Warriors is an absolutely insane achievement. Are we talking legacy or who is objectively the better basketball player? These could be two different conversations.
But it's really, really close to me. I might ask this on reddit and see what kind of responses it gets from non Laker fans _________________ Austin Reaves

Magic is my favorite player ever. So I can't be objective about this.
Same ... however, I feel justified in voting for Magic anyway. Both are all time greats, to be sure. But Magic's nine NBA Finals appearances and five rings in 13 seasons, to say nothing of how he played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the game we see before us today, are still more impactful achievements than what LeBron's been able to do thus far.

Both combined. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

It's hard to make an apples to apples comparison. Magic was lucky to be drafted onto a team that already had a GOAT player, another Hall of Famer and a bunch of all-stars and DPOY guy.
That's not to diminish Magic. But most of the greats (Jordan, Lebron, Hakeem) aren't drafted onto teams that were one player away from the finals.

I understand that angle. I've seen it expressed many times before. I guess my response is this: 42 - 15 - 7 in a pivotal NBA Finals game ... on the road in notoriously hostile Philadelphia ... as a 20-year-old rookie ... with Jamaal Wilkes as the second best player on the court with him ... against a very talented Sixers team. 14/14 from the line ...
To me, Magic just had a very special communion with the game of basketball. The only other player I've ever seen demonstrate this gift was Michael Jordan.

Lebron is great, probably top 5-7 ever, but not better than Magic. Lebron vs. Kobe would be a more compelling argument. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
If we throw out the term "better", which is going to be a never ending slog, I think a better way to frame it is: "Who had a better career?" Injuries and happenstance robbed Magic and Bird and Jordan somewhat. When it's all said and done LeBron will have as good a career argument as anyone. _________________ 14-5-3-12

Could Magic have been as good of a scorer as LeBron if he had wanted to be? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Say without knowing which other players you will add, which do you build with?
That's an interesting question.
Magic never played on a bad team, so it would be interesting to see how he handled a rebuilding situation.
I'd be happy with either of them, but I'd go with Magic.
It's hard to separate the player from the era. I'd rather have a team like Showtime. However, if I had to pick a player for the current era, not knowing who his teammates would be, I'd go with Lebron.

I can understand that. For me it's very very close
