It helps both teams IMO. DG gives them a shooter they desperately need and he can defend the perimeter too. Plus he's an ending K...

Earl gives us a legit PG who can hit open shots and keep guys in front of him. We lose a defender on the wing but I think PG defense is a more pressing need...

He's got a crazy long contract so I don't like it.

It indeed they are giving up on a 2K7 plan, or 2K8 or whatever...talent wise the trade is worth it. I'm still one of thoes believers in freeing up money (either moving Odom or Brown if needed), but if that isn't an option, I wouldn't know why you don't do this. You wouldn't have to worry about depth at SF (have they ever?), even if nobody else steps up you move Kobe down to the 3 and sub a guard in. Watson starts, and would at least put up Fisher's type of output in his prime.

I think I actually might pull the trigger here but Watson's contract is just too high. WTH was Denver thinking?

you guys are nuts, Earl plays great D, something we are lacking from that position, DG is oft hurt, unreliable, and has a contract expiring this year. Earl's contract is the MLE...honestly, the cap plan is alot of garbage IMO, if you get players that have semi-decent contracts and are good enough players to be somewhat in demand, you can always trade them later for cap relief. That MUST be the thinking with picking up Kwame's option. (at least I hope it is )

DG has been playing some great defense lately. He does that when he's healthy.

hell no. George's expiring contract is much more valuable than overrated Watson and his bloated contract. Of course Mitch is the GM, so...........

Taking on Watson's contract would add to the Lakers long-term salary structure. The Nuggets want to move Watson, but I would only take him in a package with Nene for Kwame. Nene could be an upgrade for next season. The Lakers might make he Playoffs this season, but I don't expect them to win. They could wait for Nene to get well. They could play Brian Cook a bit more for a while to boost his value for the Summer. Bynum and Turiaf could also get some PT. Watson would provide the backcourt help.

It won't be worth it to trash the plan for a role player.

Well have the oppurtunity to keep adding and trading. Its not like once we get Watson, well be done with moves for ever. Well just be like other teams... who trade and use thier salary exemptions every year.

We may have to take that ruote if Lakers are uncertain they can get the player they want.

The ability to add a major free agent is good to have, even if it results in a S&T for an upgrade. Is Watson worth blowing that? No. Is Watson and Nene worth it? Probably.

It's gonna be a blockbuster. Watson Leonard Nene and Martin for Odom Mihm George Slava and 1st rounder. This is entirely speculation by the way. I'm trying to come up with trades that make scratching the 2007 plan attractive. Also these players all want out or have been mentioned in trade talks.

Leonard = McKie.

He is done.

After his last surgery he has lost his footspeed.

He can't defend that is why Karl has severely limited his playing time.

I'd have to say no to that trade. If we have to give up both Mihm and Odom we better be getting KG or someone that can consistently contribute. Nene is injured and I'm skeptical about gambleing with injured players.

I tend to agree but it's definitely something to "chew on" before you swallow it entirely.

Heavily debate it before dismissing it completely.

Go Lakers!
