Wow! They are paying Gruden like he is Belichick.

He won in Tampa Bay because he gave them an offense to go with that terrific defense. In previous years they had defense and no offense. So he seemed like a great fit at the time. But even then the offense wasn’t great which explains why they were underdogs in the last 2 playoff games that year. The rest of his time in Tampa was pretty uneventful. He did okay but they were never anything special there.

Even his last year with the Raiders was a disappointment. They followed up a 12-4 season by going 10-6 with a very shaky defense. They were not an elite team that year.

In much of his career he didn’t seem to have much more success than Jack Del Rio. Biggest difference is he had one magical year that won him a ring.

That is insane. I'll just go ahead and say it -- he was not a great head coach. He won a title with a totally loaded Bucs team. He was considered a good head coach, for sure. But he was not some kind of legendary coach. On top of that, he's now 54. That may not sound old, but there has been research showing that coaches tend to decline after about age 50.

I found his stint with the Raiders more impressive had the Tuck Rule game not happened they might've won it all in 2001.

That being said I don't think Gruden is worth this much to the Raiders(although I think he's better than Del Rio go figure)

They would have been big underdogs to the Steelers and Rams in 2001. Raiders defense couldn’t stop the run and that would be a big concern against that Steelers team. And the Rams were loaded and were clearly the best team in the NFL. The Raiders would have had a chance against those teams, but it was a weaker Raiders team than the teams in 2000 and 2002.

I thought the 2000 team was going to win the Super Bowl but they couldn’t score on the Ravens.

Robert Kraft is calling fake news.

In a Saturday interview with The MMQB's Peter King, The Patriots owner denied he interfered with the team's decision to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, as was alleged in a Friday report by ESPN about an apparent power struggle between Kraft, Patriots coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, and threw cold water on the Giants' dream of somehow landing Belichick as their next head coach.

Kraft told King he "absolutely" expects Belichick to be the Patriots' coach in 2018 and said he would not consider trading Belichick to another team.

"When you're lucky enough to have someone exceptional," Kraft said, "you let them do their job and you get out of the way."

I wouldn't be surprised if they themselves put that news out there to create a distraction for the other team.

Tennessee needs a QB, Mariota blows....if they had say Philip Rivers, they are a contender.

I agree, feels like a major reach to me.

Del Rio is likely just as good and was a fraction of the price.

Eric Decker's wife is so insanely hot that he can't even concentrate enough on the field to catch a football anymore.

Peyton Manning made his targets so much money and outside of Wayne and Emmanuel Sanders the rest have fallen off in some capacity after him.

The guy gets a first down with the QB as the main blocker.

Kansas City is cursed.

I had a happy thought while watching the Chiefs choke away another playoff game: For at least a few years, we won't have to listen to color commentary by Jon Gruden. I am so tired of hearing him tell us how great everyone is on one team, then flip the script as soon as something goes wrong.

Chucky says never count out the wildcard....pretty fitting he would call this game as his final one for ESPN.

The Chiefs should never play in the postseason at home.

That being said they were probably the one team that could've beaten the Pats because the Titans/Bills won't.

Why are people surprised the Chiefs blow huge leads how quick people have forgotten how the Chiefs blew a 38-10 lead vs the Colts a few years back.

The team fell flat after Kelce got hurt.

Chiefs are such a tease during the regular season. I remember that one Monday Night football game where they completely blew out the Patriots. Chiefs meanwhile missed the playoffs by 1 game while the Patriots won the Super Bowl over the Seahawks later that season.

I never take the Chiefs seriously they're like the Bungles but have won a playoff game in the last decade.

In the second half, Marcus Mariota made plays. Alex Smith did not. It was that simple. I am upgrading my assessment of Mariota. When he had to complete some passes, he put the ball right on the money.
