All right. We have one team in LA that can't score and another one that can't play defense. |

Chargers coaches figured out who to cut pretty fast by watching this game. |

21k for the Chargers preseason game...
Loved this little nugget.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/nfl/la-sp-chargers-stubhub-farmer-20170811-story.html
Quote: | NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stared out the window, preparing to see the league’s smallest stadium for the first time. But before the 27,000-seat venue came into view, the car rolled past the bleachers lining the west side of a 1,200-seat track stadium used for second-division soccer games and college track meets.
“Oh my God,” Goodell gasped, “is that it?”
The scare was only momentary, and Goodell was impressed once he stepped inside the actual StubHub Center, which looks like a sleek NFL stadium through the wrong end of a telescope. |

UCLA used it for summer showcase until we built our own facility. I imagine prices will be high for seats unless the Chargers suck under a coach who's out of his league and suddenly the prices come down enough for opposing fans to fill the stadium. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Quote: | Teddy Bridgewater is the Inspiration for a Real New Children's Book Named "Little Bear Teddy"
Teddy Bridgewater, who is coming back from his horrific knee injury that caused him to miss all of last year with the Minnesota Vikings, is making his appearance in a new children’s book series. That book series, “Little Bear Teddy,” is written by Erika Cardona. Cardona in the past has been described as Bridgewater’s girlfriend, and in the bio on the book website, it says that she “decided to write these stories based on her best friend’s dream.”
You can even get an autographed copy of the book signed by Teddy Bridgewater.
In a case of life imitating daytime talk radio, Bridgewater now has a children’s book named after him, as envisioned by Dan LeBatard over a year ago. Of course, it’s not entitled “Teddy Bridgewater,” as far as we know does not involve a stuffed animal saving a town from a flood, and does not include a pig best friend named Kevin Pittsnogle. |

Quote: | Anquan Boldin leaves Bills camp, says he’s retiring

The Bills were hoping they could get away with a wide receivers room lacking “divas” by virtue of having at least one veteran presence among them.
But that guy walked out the door Sunday.
According to Jim Trotter of ESPN, wide receiver Anquan Boldin has left Bills camp today, and has informed the team he’s retiring.
The 36-year-old Boldin had signed with the Bills earlier this month, just before they traded Sammy Watkinsto the Rams, and they were hoping he’d lend stability to a depth chart lacking firepower.
They’ll now have to rely on trade acquisition Jordan Matthews (once he’s healthy), rookie Zay Jones and former Raider Andre Holmes, among the inevitable newcomers.
If Boldin is indeed finished, he’s walking away from the NFL with an incredible resume already. He has 1,076 receptions (ninth on the league’s all-time list) for 13,779 yards (14th) and 82 touchdowns (23rd).

If it wasn't for Phillip Rivers, the Chargers will probably be just as painful to watch as last years Rams. |

Wow if it wasn't for that pick 6, Chargers would've been held scoreless. Coach sounds disappointed in the effort. |

He's had a good career. Already won a SB. Probably saw what the (bleep) in Buffalo was going to be with the rebuild and further loss of talent. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Im still scratching my head why the Chargers were bent on coming here where it was beyond obvious they would play the embarrassing role as LA's redheaded stepchild they never ever wanted. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

They have the better team mostly because of their QB. They probably figured they could be the first to at least compete for a playoffs spot. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Quote: | Giants wideout Odell Beckham left Monday night's game after taking a hard shot directly to his left knee, but did not sustain any serious injuries.
The team's top offensive weapon was drilled by Browns corner Briean Boddy-Calhoun as he came down from nabbing a high pass in the second quarter. Beckham spun his helmet in frustration but walked off the field under his own power. After trotting into the tunnel en route to the locker room, a television camera caught Beckham on his knees rocking back and forth in pain.
ESPN reported during the broadcast that Beckham was being evaluated for both a concussion and an ankle injury, but that Beckham was cleared of any concussion symptom |

I can't believe the Browns are seriously considering starting Osweiler. Did they not watch the tape from last season? Or this preseason? I get that Kizer might not quite be ready, but he clearly represents a possible long-term solution. I'd play Kessler over Osweiler, if they are intent on not playing Kizer immediately. Osweiler just has nothing to offer. Absolutely nothing. |

They're already paying him. They're still deep in tank mode. Might as well. Starting Osweiler gives you the most L's. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

They had 21k for the Saints preseason game as well....that was with both starting QB's not playing.
Coupled that with the high prices just to see the Chargers, my bet is there aren't a lot of takers to watch a meaningless preseason game. |

Bright spots for the Chargers so far:
- 5th round pick Desmond King
- Rivers' one drive in the first game
Dark spots:
- Literally everything else |

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/08/23/chad-henne-to-start-jaguars-third-preseason-game/
Quote: | Chad Henne to start Jaguars’ third preseason game
Chad Henne now appears to be the leading candidate to start the regular season at quarterback for the Jaguars.
The Jaguars have confirmed that Henne, and not Blake Bortles, will start this week’s third preseason game. Typically the quarterback who starts the third preseason game also starts the first regular season game.
Bortles had been the presumed starter all offseason, but after he struggled in the preseason, head coach Doug Marrone said he and Henne would compete for the starting job. Now it looks like Henne is poised to win that competition.
If Bortles isn’t the starter, there’s a good chance the Jaguars will cut him: Bortles would be guaranteed $19 million next year if he suffers a serious injury this year and can’t pass a physical next year.
So Henne may be one solid preseason performance away from ending the Blake Bortles era in Jacksonville |
