Maybe the NBA wants to populate the city by bringing more people to like basketball? let's face it ..New Orleans isn't a big thing for basketball so ..the NBA is just trying to expande the game there.

Yes because its a party city the only reason they got it this year was because they took it out of Charlotte due to the bathroom law.

Oh, that makes sense. So really it was just a convenient fallback option since it had hosted a couple of years ago?

Well fans don't show up so maybe this is the only way to sell out their arena.

There were some problems with the all-star game a few years back in Las Vegas. I wouldn't be surprised if some cities are still wary of having the game come to town.

2017 was only because of the North Carolina bathroom bill.
I'm guessing its because New Orleans is a favorite for professional sports since it hosts a lot of Super Bowls as well.
Lots of stuff to do in the city and the surrounding area.

I went to that ASG weekend. I almost caught a contact high from just walking down the strip.

Pittsburgh should host an ASG weekend. It would be different.. a non NBA city with rich sports history.

There was even a Wrestlemania held there a few years ago!

And apparently it will hold the 2018 Wrestlemania as well. Certainly some palms being greased.

I don't really see why this is a big deal....its pretty obvious there are a couple of cities most pro sports and sports entertainment entities want to hold their big events.....Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans, Miami just because they have so much to offer in the city. Common theme being they have some sort of night life....nobody wants to hold their big events in a place like Utah....
