Thank you, Mitch. He has done a really solid job over the years and I know he is respected in all NBA circles.

It was a move that was needed. I don't like the timing but its time for change.

Magic will hire the right people and push this franchise going forward.

If he wants a job, any team would be lucky to have him.

Honestly, I really do hope they keep him around in some sort of advisory role. Buss, on the other hand, can go kick rocks.

All these years of quiet service.

I remember when he was booed during the 20 year ceremony for the '85 squad. He dealt with it with class and didn't waver on the ultimate goal to put together a title winning club on his terms.
The Pau Gasol trade is legit one of the best trades in recent NBA history. Staring down Kobe in summer '07 was a godfather move.

He didn't deserve to be treated like this and I wish him the best.

It may look harsh to you but you don't know the specifics. I am sure it was done with dignity. It sounds more harsh than it is. I am pretty sure this was brewing for at least a week or two. The Buss family and Magic respect Mitch. This is the way these things go down but the Lakers are classy.

Magic was publicly embarrassing them on various ESPN shows for weeks before today. Thats not classy. Classy would have been removing them before you toss magic around on a PR tour.
Classy would be offering Mitch some help, help that doesnt consist of previous laker greats or nepotism.

But I'm sorry, this is for thanking Mitch. I don't want to derail the thread.

Multiple decades of service, wonderful accomplishments, and he did it with the utmost level of class and dignity. No one can ever take that away.

One of the best GMs in the league since he took over. He was saddled by a bad Kobe contract and struggled towards the end but he didn't deserve this. The Pau trade was legendary and he should always be appreciated for making that happen.

I don't agree with all his decisions, but on the whole I think he's been a good GM in a difficult situation. He definitely deserves another opportunity with another team.

Do folks realize he has kept this team together for a long time, particularly after Dr. Buss died and the Jeannie vs. Jim wars happened?

Mitch pulled off some of the best trades. Its not his fault he had a buffoon looking over his shoulder making moves.

Thanks for your service and dedication Mitch!
