That is where they get a senior consultant to be the big picture voice in the room. Just add an asst gm to head up analytics/tech and with those 2 additional hires, you are done.

Yeah, that's the real question. I think Ryan West is having an increased influence so hopefully in the short term he lets West's vision come through. As well as Luke, of course.

Kinda funny that the man who in some ways is partly responsible for the Lakers current mess since he negotiated the Kobe extension from the other side is now the one taking over. Feels like almost an extra jab at Mitch and Jim.

No, front office offered the deal and Kobe simply said yes, IIRC. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Kobe pays Pelinka 4-6% to do nothing? Swamp land is available for those who believe Kobe's team did zero negotiation.

With Magic being the real decision maker, yeah, it could work.

Not surprising in the least, but I'm told Kobe was pushing hard for this Rob Pelinka-Lakers partnership. The Kobe influence will be felt.

As a pathetic Kobe stan anything that is good enough for Kobe is good enough for me.

You see Pelinka knew kobes extension would cripple the franchise so they could draft DLo and Ingram when he became GM in 3 years.

4th dimensional chess.

I would imagine a big time sports agent makes more cash than a GM for a sports team considering the amount of clients you can attain is huge and you represent some of the best players. Right or wrong?

The media is suddenly growing very fond of the Lakers all of a sudden.

Did the media really hate Jimbo, Black, and Mitch that much?

I don't know about that. But Pelinka is highly respected.

they needed someone to blame. They won't dare make Magic a scapegoat. Jeanie would become a scapegoat before Magic would.

Not hate for the old regime; more like Pelinka seems to be a well-connected mensch respected around the league.
