It would even be better if he were an agent for PG13. |

Would still like to see one more established FO hire. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

In what role? I think a Ryan West semi-promotion will be that move. _________________ Austin Reaves

So now there's the expertise of our sterling scouting department, combined with RP's astute ability as a talent evaluator? Nice. It's comforting to know. |

Glenn Carraro assistant GM role. |
Ah. I read that Glenn Carraro is still working with the Lakers right now. Just Mitch and Jim are gone (and, well, John Black) _________________ Austin Reaves

I hope Pelinka is more open to finally getting the Lakers out of the stone age in analytics. I loved Mitch but that was his one glaring weakness. No reason we shouldn't have an analytics department to rival GSW/HOU/DAL etc... |

Dodgers are huge into analytics. Have to believe that will blossom here |

Don't know anything about him other than he was Kobe's agent. After thinking, I can understand why an agent might make a good GM. They've already established inroads with every team in the league and their front offices. The lines of communication open up immediately with the familiarity of relationships, rather than having to move past introductions. It makes sense. I'm a little concerned about the lack of FO experience between Magic and Pelinka but I'm also a little excited about a clean slate. |

The thing about having a mega agent as your GM is that you know the following for sure:
knows how to work the system
knows the CBA
knows players and how to relate to them
knows teams and has working relationships with them
knows PR
knows how to negotiate
knows when/how to be shrewd
knows how to get his way
The only concern is does a former agent know how to build a roster, player cohesion, team chemistry, etc. I'd say Luke will play in huge part in this and Ryan and Jesse seem to have a good understanding of it.
In many ways this as much an investment and trust in Luke. |
