Fun fact: Corey Brewer was on the court as a member of the Wolves when Kobe made the free throw to pass Jordan

Maybe we can get him in a trade in the off season. We need a player like that.

Clarkson will pretty much be that guy for us now.

Would the people who are upset about Lou rather have Lou on the team or a top 3 pick this year plus the 2019 1st rounder ?

Again the only real complaint about the Lou deal should be Brewer's extra year. Especially when you had logical choices in McDaniels/Ennis to match salaries.

What extra year? Brewer and Lou have the same amount of years.

I'm a fan of the move but it's unfair to frame it like that imo. Solidifying the #2 spot versus the #3 in terms of losses is a 10% difference in keeping our pick. We could very well land the top 3 pick either way. Trading Lou doesn't guarantee that pick at all. We jumped a few spots up last season for example and with enough times in the lottery, we're bound to eventually pay the bill on this. It could be this season and I'm mentally prepared for it.

Brewer is a waste of 7.5M in cap next season. Rockets had been trying to dump him. I think most was expecting exp k+1st for Lou.

What he means is a combination of McDaniels/Ennis for Lou would have saved us the extra year. Long term I don't think that 7M is going to matter much. The big disasters was MozDeng.

Agreed.. With some adjustments in his game he could be even better for us than Lou.

DLO needs to play in the 4th, now he will. Although, he should've been playing to close out games with Lou still here. Just hasn't looked aggressive the last few games. Is it the lack of motivation or the knees, who knows?

As far as the trade, I always remembered Brewer as a hard nosed defender who can hit a few shots. And the Lakers get a first round pick. All in all not a bad days work.

We got the first round pick because we took Brewer's contract. We got Ennis because sending him out then waiving Huertas was necessary to clear room for a FA signing. Getting rid of McDaniels/Ennis/First still leaves them with Brewer's contract. And having it on their books does not enable them to have space to make a signing. Morey was never giving away a 1st round pick + 2 expiring contracts for Lou. Other teams have to act in their own best self-interest, too.

As much as I dislike the deal initially, I now don't think the extra year in Brewer's contract means a lot. We have to save cap space for the potential PG13 signing in 2018 so we are very unlikely going to use that cap space this summer with or without that extra 7.5million.

I don't have a problem getting back Brewer. It had to happen for salary. I think a stronger negotiation would have gotten something in exchange for taking back a (bleep) contract though. Even just a 2nd.

Especially when the deal was made 2 days before the trade deadline.

You're saying like we're gonna get a top-3 pick 100% without Lou on the team. At best, having Lou could give us 10% more to keep our pick. If we kept Lou, we could just limit his minutes and lose games. It is VERY EASY to lose games on purpose than to win them. So we could have had Lou AND this year top 3 pick.

We spent $138M signing a 30-year-old and a 31-year-old looking to improve the roster and now we had a 30-year-old who looked like a solid contributor and we traded him away. Makes a lot of sense to me. I hope we sign some more garbage this offseason so we could tank again next year in which we wouldn't even be able to keep our pick.

Almost every team has a bad contract or two. Not everyone but just about. There are much worse contracts out there then Brewer.
