My guess if yes. If he's an agent, theres no doubt he has to know the CBA agreements. Thats what he gets paid to do, know the rules and the loopholds and land contracts.

Exactly. This is precisely why Pelinka was hired. Magic would know ZERO about these kinds of details so he needs an adviser who knows what he's doing i.e. Pelinka

If he can get Kobe to great deals let's hope he can get the Lakers a few good ones too.

And through all this, we keep Ryan West and the scouting department for talent evaluation? Sheesh!

Sad to see Mitch go...Kupchak can probably get a job tomorrow, if he wanted.

Being an agent is far from the easiest job in the world

I don't working for Kobe is easy at all. Imagine calling in a sick day for Kobe. His company probably has a no sick day policy.

It has become amateur hour. That fits with our rookie coach and young team.

He no longer has clients.

He no longer has clients.

The connection will still be there.

Hopefully not, it could cost us draft picks.

Impressively fast. When this was all announced 2 weeks ago I was hoping they'd have a new GM in place just before the draft.

In one of the Woj pieces, Pelinka is described as being dedicated to researching the 2017 draft. Whether we keep our pick or not, I wonder if we add another lotto pick in exchange for one of our current talent. I don't know, just throwing that out there.

I'm pretty sure he isn't cold calling other agents. It's a good hire. If he had a clean balance sheet. No legacy trades that just kill our draft prospects.

Just not sure what he can actually do with this hand other than fold and wait for the next deal.

Hope he has not beat other agents for clients and they have bad feelings towards him.....or any GM's wont deal with him because of previous dealings....doubt its the case.

I dont mind the agent hire....agents do not work on a clock and have to survive on the fruits of their labor. I would bet its cut throat, and survival of the fittest environment....and our FO may benefit from that injection.

I thought you were done with the Lakers if Magic took over from Jim and they fired Mitch?

Woj said that it would take a couple days to get his business interests in order.
