They likely won't without giving up assets. The Deng and Mozgov contracts, to me, are the reason why Jim and Mitch had to go. Completely unforced errors with no understandable rationale behind them. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

IMO the best route to go with Mozgov is a buyout. When he signed here he was promised PT by Luke/Mitch and that seemed to be pretty important to him. If he is willing to leave some money on the table a buy out could make sense for both sides.
He should be able to fetch the room exception after a buyout from a team which is about 4.5M a year. Over 3 years that's 13.5M. Would Mozgov agree, to say give up roughly 20M of the 48M left on his deal, with the chance to make a lot of that back? If so the Lakers could stretch Mozgov out to only have a 4M cap hit on the books. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' I think it will take at least 2 first round picks to get rid of deng. For example, perhaps dumping deng would require us to attach Ingram and the Rockets' first rounder in order to convince another team to take on Deng. Yes that's how bad his contract is. As for mozgov, i would say it would take a little less. For example, maybe attaching clarkson or Larry nance and Houston first rounder. _________________ Billions Billions Billions

Mozgov is a far worse contract...multiple teams have been desperately trying to get rid of big men....Okafor, Monroe, Asik, Plumlee, Nurkic etc etc.
Stretch one and attach a 1st rounder or a young player to the other. Probably doesn't happen until we actually have a shot at signing a big name guy, which is summer 2018 at the earliest, and after their deals expire at the latest.
