I appreciate that Jim Buss jockeyed (pun intended) for Bynum, who helped us win 2 chips. Thanks, Jim. _________________ "I like looking at a guy's face when he realizes that even his best moves aren't going to work on me all night. They look depressed." - Ron Artest |

Dr. Jerry Buss was the biggest playboy ever. It doesn't mean anything. |
Whether the perception is true or not, Jim projects little humility and more recklessness than his father did from a basketball standpoint(and he's less personable).
Jim also had his foot in two worlds with his passion for horse racing...people in professional sports jobs refer to such engrossing side-pursuits as "cheating the game". If this is his family business and he intended to assume control of it, he should've been seeking experience in that business his whole life. Picking underdogs in horse racing has little application to hoops. |

Dr. Buss was a rags-to-riches entrepreneurial success story He built a very successful real estate empire from nothing. He had the hunger, business acumen, and vision. Probably b/c he was so poor and had to earn everything on his own. Jimmy is Paris Hilton with an even worse track record of success. Classic example of nepotism gone wrong. He was never qualified to do this job. Good riddance. Only bad thing is he cost Mitch (who had a hand in his own demise too) his job too. |

Chazz better study up on the latest cocktails. His Laker scouting days are likely going to be counted well.....in days. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Jim Buss dedicated much of his adult life to the Lakers, and he is not without some successes.
He completely revamped the Front Office.
He hired Glenn Carraro, Rondre Jackson and Ryan West.
He hired Marco Nunez, and the entire training staff.
He hired Yuju Lee, Lorena Martin, Clay Moser and the entire analytics staff.
He helped plan the new training center.
He hired Luke Walton, Brian Shaw and the coaching staff.
He drafted every youngster we root for.
He had impossible shoes to fill in taking over from the best owner in all of sports, and despite the weight of that responsibility, the pressure from fans, and the lack of support from his sister, he gave us his best and treated people better than they treated him.
Thank you, Jim.
Enjoy your retirement, and I hope you find the peace that always seemed to elude you under the glare of the spotlight. |

Appreciate Jim for letting Mitch handle a majority of the player personel decisions. Never lashed out against public criticism, which was sometimes warranted, and sometimes wasn't. |

Gave his full backing to Mitch when we were going through those lean mid-00s years
Vouched for Bynum who was solid when healthy
Pulled the trigger on what should've built another great Kobe-led dynasty if not for Stern
I can't even imagine the stress he (and the other Buss kids) goes through to live up to his father's name. Dr. Buss was arguably the Messi of owners, at least for American sports, and it was always going to be tough to live up to his legacy. Jim wasn't perfect by any means, but he was far from the bumbling character that could've been in Arrested Development that the media liked to portray him as.
It's time to move on, but I hope history looks back on him fondly when the dust settles. |

He wasn't any good at that either. From an LA Times article.

Hey, the Cubs went 0-107 until they won a World Series this year. They quit too early. |
