I think Moz could be tempted to return to Europe after 2-3 years based on lack of playing time. |

2020.
Might get trade offers for them In 2019 when they're expiring contracts. But we'll probably hold on to them to free up cap space when they expire summer 2020. Hopefully to make room for a big FA. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Unless the league makes a new amnesty agreement, amnesty isn't an option for the Lakers. |

Well if we didn't suck so bad last year and didn't get desperate we could of had them at 2 years not 4 years. |

It seems like Mitch and Jim had a clue about their fates and since they couldn't hit a big fish they made it tough for the next front office going forward. I understand Mozgov deal because he was one of the top 3 pick and roll centers before coming here and Dlo was supposed to be one pick and roll big away to succeed, but Deng is old, washed and it was clear last season that he is not effective anymore at SF, he reborn a bit when moved to the PF spot in Miami. Magic is such a charismatic person, I trust him to convince free agents to sign with us. One more year of experience for our young core and a ton of cap space would be great, now we have to manage our cap to sign one max player, the only player worth a lick was traded and we have Deng and Mozgov playing like bleep under contract for three more seasons after that. To make things worse, there is no amnesty clause in new CBA. |

We are stuck with them for the duration of their contracts.
Maybe in the final year there could be a buyout/salary dump trade or something like that, but I doubt it. |

These 2 contracts are a real pain in the posterior. If these 2 at 30 years old are not capable for more, what could we expect in the future.
Mitch and Jim burned more that 30millions from cap space. It will be hurtful when the cap reach the plateau. Ezeli contract would have been much better. |

Even if those numbers were legit, rollman offense was not a huge feature in GS (or frankly the NBA). It made no sense to break the bank on that one aspect alone. |

When Mozgov gets minutes he produces. But he loses minutes due to pick and roll defense on jumpers.
Anyway, if Zubac starts, I get the feeling Mozgov and Black will have a shot at backup 5. |

Expect he hasn't play all year. We needed a veteran center who was healthy. |

They are good veterans. The overpay was fine. The years weren't. We're stuck with them, courtesy of Mitch and Jim. |

They are here until the end of their contracts. Unless one of them is is part of a salary match in a blockbuster trade. Then the Lakers will have a George or Butler and another inflated contract to complain about.
Both Deng and Mozgov can contribute. Maybe not at the levels that all want or as "value " contracts. But they help the young guys become better by their professionalism.
At the moment their mpg are reduced to let the young guys get playing time. As most of us want to develop the young centers and Ingram. Next year they will have bench roles as the Lakers strive to become competitive.
I have never shared the critical opinions of both. Lakers had to spend to bring in a couple of legitimate quality vets to help babysit a group of 19 and 20 year olds. They paid a premium for them to join a 17 win team and to accept the frustration of the losses and reduced playing time this season because the "young guys need to play".
I would have loved for them to play better. But my expectations were more extensive then the PER or even the level some seem to expect. Both will serve their purpose for the next couple years. As planned. . |
