There is no way they are going to DNP Mozgov for 3 more years. If they're not going to play him, they'll amnesty him I'd imagine. Not like we have anyone else on big contracts anyway. |

Ok, How about this tactic?
We know MozGoof sucks, we know he gets injured a lot, so after sitting him down for all these games, why not start him again and have him play 36 minutes (instead of his usual 21).
Sure his scoring may go up to 9 or 10 ppg (from his usual 7ppg) and sure his rebounds may go up to 5 or 6 (from his usual 4.2rpg) with the extra 15 minutes of playing time, but by playing him two things can/may happen:
1) He will singlehandedly ensure the Lakers get the Number 2 spot in the draft
and (most importantly)
2) He might get injured and if it is a career ending injury (cross your fingers), the Lakers could get all or part of his salary re-available!!!!
So Luke needs to get him back on the court and for BIG minutes...! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

All things considered, the team is better with him in the rotation so that wouldn't work. |

Like mentioned before, there is no amnesty provision in the new CBA.
Therefore, only option is stretching them both.
Scenario #1: Waive in offseason:
- Luol @ $7.7M/7yrs
- Moz @ $6.8M/7yrs
Scenario #2: Waive next season or next offseason:
- Luol @ $18M '17-18 then $7.2M/5yrs
- Moz @ $16M '17-18 then $6.4M/5yrs
Scenario #3: Waive next next season or next next offseason:
- Luol @ $18M '18-19 then $6M/3yrs
- Moz @ $16M '18-19 then $5.3/3yrs
Dead cap money of:
1. $14.5M/7yrs
2. $13.6M/5yrs
3. $11.3M/3yrs

Next year we are going to tank again, its obvious and who is better for tanking than these two guys. Slow, old, not motivated guys perfect for tanking. In the offseason 2018 we can waive them for cap space for FA's.
Simple. |

Thanks Jeanie (when asked about Jim's deadline)! |
this |
Jeanie didn't know who Mozgov and Deng were before this season. Can't blame those signings on her.
Meanwhile, we were the 2nd most profitable team in the league last year. She's done her job fine. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

That is more of an offensive issue, not a defensive one. No one can post a good defensive rating with all the early offense opportunities that come from an eFG of 40% when no one can space the floor. |

0.54 assist-to-turnover ratio, lol. Of the MozDeng 197 min sans Nick:
131 Clarkson, 134 Randle, 115 Ingram, 63 Williams, 62 Calderon, 34 Russell
So it's hard to attribute it to no Nick when most of the minutes without Nick were without Russell as well. |

Depends, if we do get our max FA somehow (via trade or outright signing this summer) then I can see FO stretch one and attach the other one to a young prospect and trade for another vet (let Magic assemble 'his' team afterward) |

We clearly needed a SF/C in Free Agency. We should have moved on to the next option on both once the asking price got up to 3+ years. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' After what? Mozgov/Deng? There were smaller name options out there. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |
