From what I read on this board, Robinson hustles and is very athletic but his skills and defensive abilities are not that great. Nwaba not only hustles but also is a good defender. Can anyone tell me if Nwaba has actually shut anyone down during his short stay, or is he just active and disruptive?
I know guys like Kobe, Cooper and Fox (I think) would actually shut someone down.
MWP should step up and volunteer his position in exchange for a coaching gig. Is he deluded that he actually thinks he can still play in the NBA?
I would like to see Ennis get a chance as he seems to have a nice outside shot as well as a passing mentality. |
First post.
Been bleeding purple and gold. I've also been looking around to discuss Nwaba and this forum is full of good info. I think magic should sign him for 2 years with the 2nd year as team option.
Our team is terribly imbalance. We have full of players who can put up and make plays but in the defensive end, we are lacking. Nwaba can be that Tony Allen role player. He's very athletic and has that long wing span. If he can develop a jumpshot, he can carve an NBA career.
Ennis does not bring anything to the table to me. If he had Nwaba athleticism and defensive capabilities, he would have been a serviceable player. I rather keep Trob and have him as insurance policy for our front court. |
Great first post because I saw it before the latest was posted that the Lakers had indeed done exactly as you suggested in signing Nwaba. The emboldened is a very good point, and the very reason they signed him. |

Second year (2017-2018) has team option.
I'm so happy for Nwaba.....this means so much to him!! I was looking all this morning at the pic of him after yesterday's practice sitting on the floor under the basket looking so sad. |

I think this was a very good move--- kid plays his heart out, amazing D, and crazy athletic.
For an end of the bench 14th/15th man, I'm satisfied |

Pelinka's reasoning on signing David Nwaba... "He was born for the NBA, it's embedded in his name. If you switch the order of N and W, then you'll see WNBA as well too, so he stands for woman equality, and Jeannie will love that. But if he's really tough and our go too bruiser a'la Bruce Bowen, the NWA is in his name too. If he's old school and rocks Dr. J posters, the ABA is covered as well. If he has any relatives who lives in Washington, WA is in his name too. Wait a minute, doesn't Markelle play for Washington? I need to rethink this Lonzo thing Magic. Wait a minute, the L in Lonzo stands for Lakers. If you replace the NZ with TT, you get LOTTO. Does this mean we take Lonzo? Oh this is so hard!" |

David Nwaba’s Long Road to the LA Lakers
Quote: | In September, David Nwaba stood sweat-soaked in a gym in Reno, Nevada. He had paid $150 and traveled from his parents’ home in Los Angeles to attend an open tryout for the Reno Bighorns of the NBA D-League. He played his heart out, knowing that if he failed, he might not get another chance.
Fast forward to Tuesday night, when Nwaba stood under the lights at the Staples Center as the newest member of the LA Lakers. He was only hours removed from signing his first NBA contract, which will span 10 days. As he looked up at the 16 championship banners hanging from the rafters, he wondered if maybe he had finally made it. |

David Nwaba fulfills childhood dream of becoming Laker
Quote: | The Los Angeles Lakers recently signed David Nwaba to a multiyear deal, and he couldn’t be happier.
David Nwaba was born and raised in Los Angeles. He grew up watching the Kobe-Shaq teams that won three NBA championships with the Lakers in the early 2000s.
As he attended University High School and Cal Poly Pomona-San Luis Obispo, he dreamed of one day playing for his hometown team. But while in college, he knew that would be a long shot. |

Loved his offense tonight. Hit his first three, which was unexpected. Form looks decent. I can see him getting it down. Pretty sure he'll be working hard to add the three point shot to his arsenal next season. He looks like Wesley Matthew's twin brother. |

The kid is hungry. I guarantee that he will work his tail off this summer. |
