Agreed, but he looked great today. He was extremely active on both ends of the court, I don't even think he took a jumper today |

Nwaba is a much better passer than i remember him being last year. could be the ball effect. his defense is relentless, to a fault: a couple sequences he really showed some lack of control. he beat up jaylen brown a little tonight.
not sure if he will do any favors for himself with the nba refs doing that. _________________ Darvin |

On a team that ranked 30th in defensive efficiency, he's clearly a rotation player next season. They signed him for a reason. There's nothing he needs to prove in these games. |

It's more about reputation. If he defends like that all season, refs will let some contact fly (see Draymond, Beverly, Bradley, Roberson, etc). Hell, they might let him get away with murder (ALA Draymond Green) on some sequences, which is why it's imperative he establishes a defensive reputation early on in the season. |

Did they really sign him for two years? Hopefully the second year is a team option, he seems like one of those guys who makes one bone-head play for every two decent plays, the perfect player fro a last place team... _________________ “Always remember... He was awesome last night. He switched on to the guys who got hot at the end and stopped them.
Frank Mason was going off and Nwaba swapped onto him stopped him 2-3 straight possessions including that smother in the corner forcing the bad pass that Caruso stole for the lob.
Since he was on Mason, Buddy started going off, but he took Buddy the last few possessions.
Nwaba was solid last night. Passing looked good, makes the smart cuts and finishes. Didn't put up a jumper but he's doing so much on the court. |

This was a sight to behold. You could see him ratchet up the defense and the SacTown player panicked. |

I think he need to be part of rotation next season. Its perfect time to evaluate him during the long period of season. If he can continue to play defense on high level and at least improve his shooting is some % he can be more than useful for us because now to have a guy who is playing defense in this league is precious . Its hard to find someone who is defensive specialist anymore. And I believe he can be one of few. |

His passing is much better than I thought it would be. I thought I did see him attempt a 3-pointer that didn't go in but didn't look bad. If he can add even a respectable threeball he'd be a really fine player. |

Nwaba's going to be fun this year, his defense legitimately bothers people and I love how he's always in attack mode, no soft stuff just explode hard to the rim.
Now he can't shoot but I love how he plays to his strenghts, With the up-tempo share the ball offense we're going to install this year I can see Nwaba getting a lot of easy baskets in semi transition and off cuts like a prime Corey Brewer. |

All Nwaba needs is a 3 point shot at least 33-35% and he'd make a LOT of money in the league on his next contract. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Loving how active he is. His high energy and strong finishes will make playing with Lonzo a lot of fun for him. Now, as many have said, if he could only add a reliable jumper to his arsenal... |

And or at least be a 75% FT shooter. The way he attacks the rim, I think he will get to the line a lot. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Very good point. He made 64% of his free throws for us last year, and 65% during his three years in college. I think you are right that he will consistently get to the line due to his aggressive play, so hopefully he can grow in this area. |

Man he would be so good with a 3pt shot. I really hope he makes that a focus after summer league in preparation for the regular season. |

Did we renounce Nwaba to sign KCP?
I read KCP signed an 18M deal. Didn't we have 17M in capspace and 1M unguaranteed to Mr Dunk? _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |

Is this true? Can anyone confirm this?
I hope the Lakers don't lose Nwaba. They need a bulldog like him to hound guys like Hield like he did the other day. |

I found this on the KCP thread:
Chronicle wrote:
Quote:
Bobby Marks of ESPN adds that “the Lakers had $16.5M in room and will likely need to make a roster move to open up additional cap space” in order to fit Caldwell-Pope’s contract.
Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report notes that the Lakers could waive David Nwaba’s non-guaranteed salary and then re-sign him at the veteran’s minimum.
Money-wise, the Lakers could also move a player like Larry Nance, Jr., Ivica Zubac, Kyle Kuzma or Josh Hart for a draft pick or into another team’s cap space in order to give them just enough to sign Caldwell-Pope to the agreed upon deal.
Did I miss the discussion on this? Seems like big news
Bobby Marks stated "The Lakers entered the day with about $17MM in cap room, so based on the terms of Caldwell-Pope’s deal, it’s possible the club will waive David Nwaba – who has a non-guaranteed contract – or another player to create a little more space. There has been no indication yet of a corresponding roster move, however."

Obviously there is another move forthcoming.
Is waiving Nwaba and bringing him back at vet min a guaranteed thing? Or could some other team swoop in and take him?
It would suck to lose Nwaba when the Lakers have guys like Deng taking up roster and cap space. I'd rather lose Brewer or maybe even Clarkson (if they could get a draft pick for him).
Would not signing Ennis save Nwaba? Or losing Ennis is coming if they sign Rondo? |

We're over the cap with KCP signing even if we don't resign Ennis or TRob. Waiving Nwaba and resigning him would be great. Trading Brewer would be even better. |
