Nick Young’s home burglarized All-Star weekend, thieves got $500,000 in goods, took entire safe

Nick Young was a great addition by the NBA to All-Star weekend, where the Lakers’ gunner was part of the Saturday night Three Point Contest. He didn’t win, but still, he got to go to New Orleans and have a little fun, and eat a little gumbo.

But that may not be how he remembers the weekend now.

His Los Angeles home was burglarized while he was away, according to a report on TMZ.

…this time, crooks struck the L.A. home of Lakers star Nick Young (again!) and made off with $500k in cash and jewelry after taking his entire safe!!!

Law enforcement sources confirm … Young’s Valley residence was hit in February when the bad guys entered through an unlocked door and pilfered the NBA star’s valuables. We’re told crooks took roughly $30k in cash plus 3 gold chains, a custom ring and a locked safe containing other valuables.

The details of this have since been confirmed by the Los Angeles Times. The home is in the San Fernando Valley and is the one he purchased with pop star Iggy Azaela when they were together.

If you steal an entire safe, that means you have a lot of time and some means to pull it off — this was no smash and grab. These were pros (which is bad news for Young, it means they are less likely to be caught).

The difference between people with money, rich people and weathly people.

1) People with money - buy fancy things to show off and end up broke
2) Rich people - Have expensive things that they take care of
3) Wealthy people - buy the things they like, spend most of their money on homes and vacations, have little cash/jewelry on them or in their homes and pass along wealth to their kids who in turn are wealthy like they are.

Most NBA players start at #1 and get stuck there and some progress to #2. 99% of NBA players grew up in middle class and below families and they don't understand that money is security...not something to spend to show other people you have it. Nick young is a child. Anybody who has that value of "goods" in their house available for theft deserves to have it taken.

That 500K is the difference between Nicks children being rich and having money. So stupid...glad he lost it, hope that wealth gets redistributed to someone who respects it.

How did I know when opening this thread, people were somehow going to blame Young for this?

And people think Young will take a discount offer here.

He gonna want a nice long secure contract with (bleep) like this keeping happening to him.

Being robbed sucks, but leaving your door unlocked? This isn't Canada.

No I didn't.

I was more so referring to other posts referring to his IQ and being glad he lost his things.

With no information people somehow are blaming the guy for getting robbed. It was during a time period he was not home (all-star weekend). Who knows who else lives with him or who was supposed to be taking care of the home.

Also supposedly multiple celebrities have been burglarized recently especially in this neighborhood.

There are companies that install concealed safes with facades that open by sticking a pin in an obscure nailhole or by tripping a latch with a magnet. Remember seeing a clip of a company on Modern Marvels once. They showed a laundry room with a huge gun safe hidden behind a pegboard and opened with a magnet under the detergent shelf. No way in hell yer finding that. I dunno. Either that or post some guards out front. These robbers/burglars are targeting athletes and sports people. Kristen Ledlow was met by a few of them on her drive home from work. She's lucky they just robbed her. Sean Taylor got killed by such morons. Any rich person is a potential mark. You have to see the world thru a different set of eyes, I would think...

Signed a 21 million deal with Lakers, after taxes and paying his agent, guess he'll keep 6-7 million in bank, securities, and other investments with the 1-2 million rest going to his lifestyle, or vice-versa if he follows the Scottie Pippen wealth management model. That 500k is about 4% of his contract. FDIC is insured up to 250k, more if he uses his mom as a beneficiary. Cash is king for certain merchandise and situations, non-traceable and doesn't trigger the bank's mandatory 10k auto transaction report.

Unfortunately, unless your house is Fort Knox, no home safe is a good place for storing valuables compared to a bank vault.

FDIC doesn't cover a lot.
If you are rich you a better off having multiple bank accounts and diversifying your wealth.
