Bottom line, he got the deal done. If AD signs long term, and we either scoop,up another big fish or two very good players with the remaining cash, then that is a great offseason.

Rob said that the AD trade process reminded him of the time Jimi Hendrix visited the Michigan locker room and gave the fab 5 a pep talk before their game with the 1952 Minneapolis Lakers.

Pelinka really screwed this up.

Quote:
The Anthony Davis trade will be completed July 6, per @wojespn. Lakers cap room will depend upon whether Anthony Davis takes his $4.1M trade bonus. If so, they’d have up to $23.7M. If not, they’d have up to $27.7M (enough for a 25% max).

Taken to the woodshed.

Yeah, I'm glad we got AD, but it's not like Pelinka outsmarted and out-negotiated the Pels into netting us a steal of a trade. He seems adequate for now, but nothing to me indicates he'll be one of the great GMs in this league going forward.

Pretty horrible negotiating of Pelinka if true but it’s not the end of the world.

If the trade is truly on 7/6, AD waiving his kicker and Lakers getting rid of Bonga and Wagner would put us just about 500k short of a max which I doubt would hold up a max player coming to play with Bron and AD.

Pelinka just got annihilated by someone we should have hired to take his place.

Magic Congratulated the move. That's all we need to know about how good of a move it is. Magic never congratulates any real good moves. All the moves he congratulates ends up not being so good.

Yes he was. Because that other deal (Jaylen Brown, Smart, and mediocre picks) was so tough to beat.

He has some balls...but building around an old Lebron and AD might not result well,.and we are counting on them..

Lavar Ball may be right once again. Pelinka was being ignored by Griffin and probably just kept adding assets out of desperation. Sell the team Jeannie.

Rob just said that the experience of getting outfoxed by another GM reminded him of the time Clark Gable gave a Ted talk at the original Woodstock.

Let's let the Lakers have a chance to speak and actually see the final deal before making these types of claims....we got AD after swinging and missing on him, KL and PG over the past 2 years...it's a win.

I think it's fair to wait and see. If they execute on July 6: inexcusable.

I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt here, ecause while being arrogant and screwing up a detail would be on brand, I have to think between him Klutch and Griffin (who benefits from the later signing too), someone understood this.

I refuse to believe Rob made this trade without assurances that it gets executed July 30th. What a colossal f up if he didn’t.

It's imperative that the Lakers get a 2nd star under 30 to go with Davis because of those picks. LBJ will be 35 next season, who knows how long he'll be around.

That’s not correct. Assuming the Lakers can move them for no salary in return (possible, but it might cost even more draft picks to do so), Cap holds would apply to their roster spots for the league minimum, so we wouldn’t clear their salary off completely, just their salary minus about 900k.

Wasn't it reported that Griffin ignored the first 3 calls the day the news broke out?
