Isn't that what Leonard did while working to get PG? All Leonard had to do was threaten the clippers with "I'm going to the Lakers" to get what he wanted. You know he wanted Ibaka.
He's tight w/Ibaka. If Pelinka had not acted , they could have easily strung us along like Leonard did last year, and, as a result, created the time for Trez to sign for bigger money in Charlotte, and Ibaka announce he's going to the clippers.
Lakers out of the running for both the end result. |
I could see Kawhi convincing his buddy to do shady (bleep) like that to us. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Pelinka is a (bleep) monster.
Kobe was correct all along. Pelinka is no (bleep) joke man.
Amazing offseason. |

I wouldn't trade Pelinka straight up for any GM in the league.
He is a cap master and gets along with people, teams are working with us again like under The Logo. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Someone needs to give some credit to Jeanie for willing to hire Rob. Rob is doing a great job, but the person who put him in place needs to get respect as well. Smartest thing Jeanie did was listen to Kobe, and then sticking with her team even when going got tough. |

Jeanie deserves all the credit in the world. She really got us out of the dark times. |

He was a big question mark when he came in. Given the body of his first two years calling the shots he's going to be a good one. The Lakers didn't have a ton to work with and appear to have improved a championship roster without parting with what was arguably their best trade asset in Kuzma. That's impressive. |

Rob showed me a lot by not falling in love with and overpaying for fringe role players like Rondo/Dwight/Morris(although I want him back for the min), just cause they won a championship for us. He didn’t rest on his laurels and understood we needed to get better and possibly younger, and accomplished both. Props to you Little finger, you did well. |

Based on the way he operates, if his first name wasn't already "Rob" I would suggest that as a nickname. |

I loved his signing when we first got him and I am more than happy that he’s our GM for the permanent time being. Just goes to show that Magic had no idea what he’s doing in his position and I’m glad that he stepped down to let Rob do his job. He is everything a GM should be and he’s very methodical. He should have been executive of the year last year IMO. |

The man plans ahead. Every move with purpose, options and charts, if ... then scenarios. And it seems like players like and trust him. I haven't heard anything negative from players.
Oh ... there is Dwight Howard. Dwight ... you were great for half a season. Thanks. Glad you got your ring. No history. |

He's basically shown to be everything Kobe said he would be... Overly prepared, detailed, calculated, locked in.
What a job he's done this summer and also just building back the organizational structure that seemed to dissipate when Jim was in that seat. If I'm correct, I believe the genius talks thing they do was Rob's idea. Small example of a big idea that has a huge impact on players growth and culture.
All hail Rob. |

None of these moves were anticipated, and he didn’t fall for the Ibaka Kawhi snake trap. We got younger, faster, and meaner. Pelinka did this all like a mamba ninja assassin. The plan was masterful, and the execution was flawless. Pelinka, you bring honor to our dojo. _________________ DEAR BASKETBALL |

All this amazing turnaround is all because of Jeannie, I remember when Magic stepped down as POBO everyone was then saying we need Bob Myers or Jerry West to take over the GM, Jeannie stuck with Rob Pelinka and it’s paying dividends right now. |

Pincus is thinking that Rob basically moved McGee to give Gasol a $5.3 million contract like in a Tim Duncan type deal. Where he’s paid next year but not playing. Otherwise why all the trading to restructure so you can do a 2-year min deal. So basically it’s a 5.3 mil deal with half paid out this year. Interesting idea. |
