Is this serious

Umm, JC + Jules...if that's all it took for WB...hell yeah.

That would be a heist. Westbrook, Ingram, Zubac, maybe #1 overall pick. That team can compete.

of course you do that trade. Then you probably trade Ingram for George, then trade the pick for Butler.

Westbrook
Butler
George
Nance
Zubac

That's a 100% legit contender.

Westbrook is a legit superstar in the middle of a historic season, the fair question would be if we trade:

Dlo + 3rd pick for 1st pick

Then Nance for Towns and Deng for LeBron.

Obviously this takes two of our prized young players, but it would leave us with this year's pick (hopefully) and Ingram.

What if we were guaranteed a top 2 pick in the draft?

With the plan being:

Sign George
Trade for Westbrook
Draft Ball

Now the core is Ball, Westbrook, George, Ingram, Zubac, Nance.

Good enough to compete for titles?

I just don't like low FG% shooting super stars. And apparently, neither did Durant. PG13 isn't much more accurate than Westbrook either. So unless Lonzo Ball hits the floor running, that team isn't as good as recent OKC teams with Durant.

Can Westbrook, Ball, and DLo coexist on the floor together in the starting lineup? Can one of them play the 3? I don't want to give up taking Westbrook on the team, but I also want to keep Ball and DLo.

That team wouldn't get past either the Warriors or Spurs.

If we knew for SURE Paul George would come over here, I'd sure consider it. And I hate the idea of parting with DLO. If we can keep some of the remaining core in tact, though...

We'd have to trade off a Nance/Zubac to get rid of a Deng or Mozgov though. With the Warriors and Cavs still competitive, I don't know...

no way. You dont do a move like that (trading young up and coming player for 28 yr old star) unless that move makes you an instant serious contender. We do that and say we also grab PG... we still get B-slapped out the playoffs each year until Westbrook is out of his prime.

our best bet is to stay the course, develop out your talent and enjoy their progress as today's super teams flame out and at that same time Mozgov and Dengs contracts of death falls off the books where we stack on some more talent to make a championship push.

Yes, but our window would be waay shorter (like 2-3 yrs until these guys hit 30). Also I'd never draft Lonzo then. Westbrook is an insanely high usage player. Probably get Jackson instead. And of course, only do this if Paul George comes.

Westbrook + growing players = no
Westbrook + George +growing players = maybe

westbrook does NOT have the offensive talent to carry a team in crunch time.

he's 28 and his game is entirely predicated on athleticism

DLO is going to be remembered as a better player than Westbrook in 20 years. Remember this post.
