So what "roll" is Randall playing? And if TRob could so easily be an effective "roll" player on a contending team, why isn't he on one? And why has this former #5 pick of the 2012 draft played for 6 different teams in 5 years? |

The guy's been in the NBA 5 years and his career free throw percentage is 50.9% -- don't see him becoming a long-range marksman. |

He's not a starter. He's a bench energy guy, that's why he did so well against a team that was up 30 pts |

because Randle is better than him
And Nance is ahead of him on the backup 4 scale.
Thomas Robinson would be maximized at backup 5.
So maybe the question should be, why hasn't Luke benched Tarik for a few games and given Thomas Robinson a shot at backup 5. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Lol No, he isn't. They're both guys that get by almost purely on talent and Randle has more talent and basketball IQ. Hustling when your team is down 30 is hardly proof a guy should start. It's what an NBA journeyman like Robinson does to keep a place in the league. |

EXACTLY. The love of this board for the young supposed stars that are never going to pan out is astonishing. Randle and Russell play no D and will never be starters on a contending team until that changes. Of course, it is the same group of fans that thing Lonzo Ball would be a good choice when he has shown no ability to guard even below average college players.

No, it's more that people let their expectations of what they think some of the young guys should be raise their expectations relative to a scrappy and active NBA journeyman with lots athleticism and limited basketball skills and IQ, who they then over value. |

Now this is something worth considering. |
