While he ultimately got some of the credit he deserved, he didn't really get the benefit of it, but I think he just liked being out on that stage. My guitar heroes are leaving me. First Scotty Moore, now Chuck . I read somewhere that he planned on releasing a new album this year. His first in 38 years!
Wonder if he even started recording it and/or if there is enough material to release it still. _________________ Thank you, Kobe. We love you.

When I saw the post this is the first thing that came to mind. Danced the "swing" on Johnny B Good. RIP _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

When I read your post that was the first thing that came to my mind. It will always be one of my favorite songs. I wonder how many artists have covered that song? _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant
A musician living to 90 is rather amazing considering many of his peers tend to die much younger than that.
Plus, how many musicians from the nascent cradle of rock 'n roll are still alive? It was a miracle even one was left for as long as Chuck lived. And then the sheer number of musicians who died from transpo accidents and drink/drugs is staggering. Ritchie Valens didn't make it past age 17. How many miles did Chuck F'in Berry log over his life, playing for as long as he did? He's gotta be high up there in the annals of flyer mile records.
He was a stubborn man and could be tempestuous and lash out even at friends (he once punched Keith Richards for touching his guitar, for example), but it's hard to blame a black musician of the 50s/60s era being edgy about life in the United States of America. He did 20 months in prison, essentially for an offense related to prostitution (he liked them young like Jerry Lee Louis). That's one I didn't know before reading his obit on NYT. He learned to operate like people were out to take his money. Again, not a paranoia without basis considering the industry. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!
Sad that the early years of rock are slowly being forgotten. K-earth 101 doesn't even play music from the 50s anymore.
I doubt most millenials who haven't seen Back to the Future would even recognize his name.
That's how I know I'm getting old. Hearing Janet Jackson and Madonna, music that I remember listening to on the radio.
It's a shame they don't play more 50s and 60s. I remember growing up with "Dream Lover" "Wake Up Little Susie" Del Shannon's "Runaway" etc. _________________ Thank you, Kobe. We love you.

Just about a week ago, I saw an amusing string of posts in a YT viewer recap video of BTTF 1 where (I'm strongly guessing) a Millennial poster claimed that scene where Chuck's cousin held the phone up to Marty playing was racist because it showed Marty appropriating the music of Chuck Berry and thus, Marty McFly was the force behind Chuck's future career. It may have been a troll, but if I didn't know any better... He reeled in a few galled repliers either way. To Marty's credit, he also had a Van Halen tape in his pocket. I'll have to see the scene again to see if Marty was already veering off of Johnny B. Good into the metal stuff as Chuck was listening. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

That's hilarious! People nowadays have no sense of humor whatsoever. _________________ Lakers. Built different.
