Kobe Bryant Was The Inspiration Behind Devin Booker’s 70-Point Game

Quote:
I’ve seen an interview with Kobe where he said what separated him from a lot of people was that he thought everyone thought 30 points was a lot. He said he never set himself with a limit, and that always sticks in my head. He said he’d score 100 if he could, so he never had a limit, I don’t put a limit on anything.”

Just awesome

Kobe is "Jordan" to this generation of players.

Seems like every time one of them does anything amazing they go out of their way to acknowledge Kobe and what he means to them. From Devin Booker citing Kobe as his inspiration for the 70 to Kyrie channeling "Mamba mentality" in Game 7 of the finals.

Always good to see what the real NBA ballers think of Kobe vs compared to ESPN-type sports media and internet forum keyboard warriors.

Lakers were 6-0 when Kobe scored 60 or more points.

Great stat.

Do you happen to know the Lakers record when he scored 50+, 40+ or 30+?

Including playoffs:

50+: 18-8
40+: 92-43
30+: 337-182

The 1 playoff loss with 50 pts was the GD Tim Thomas game against the SSOL Suns in '06. Wasted a playoff gem by Kobe (50/8reb/5ast/3stl on 20-35) and should've eliminated them that game. Oh well, we won 2 titles since then and they're in the stinker with an empty trophy case.
