I like her mindset, with a couple of first round picks next season we have enough young assets to trade for a legit difference maker without depleting our roster and that may lead us to compete for the top free agents guys we just don't have a shot with a 20 win roster. Like you guys I don't want to break the bank, I mean sending Dlo and Ingram or a top three pick, but moving one top tier asset alongside a few other players is the way to go IMHO.
Seriously. It's one weekend of festivities with a meaningless exhibition game. Jeanie sounds like one of those clueless fans who post on Facebook every time she speaks.
Lol you guys get off the wagon pretty damned quickly...
What wagon are you referring to. I am still a Laker fan.
I will always recognize and acknowledge when a comment or move from our FO is not smart.
Over the last few years, there were numerous idiot comments by Jim Buss which I repeatedly called him out for. ("compete within 3 years", "we are in a dynamite position", "we will sign a free agents and contend next year", etc.)
I also called him for his poor moves. (ie. Hiring Mike Brown, etc.)
She really doesn't have much of a poker face does she?
Has anyone seen any speculation from GMs or "experts" of what would be a reasonable expectation for a George trade?
We see some statements posted of we would or would not include in the trade. Curious of opinions on what trade with Indiana would actually be fair for both sides.
Top 3, Randle and Blacks $7M contract savings enough?
Add George and a vet PG like Lowry, Holiday, Hill or Teague could be interesting and gets the AllStar or two she is asking for.
BREAKING NEWS: Jeanie Buss would prefer to have an All Star on the team next year instead of not having one.
I'm skeptical of Jeanie too guys but let's select our panic wisely.
Hopefully, that's the case. But it's such an extreme thing to say heart will be broken if we don't have an all star at ASG next year. Hope she's not desperate 'cos other teams will exploit. Magic kept saying Jeannie is his boss during Pelinka presentation. _________________ Showtime 2.0
Well, the way I look at it we are at the bottom of the barrel, we can't get much worse and other than Ingram none of these young guys show me anything special. Basically, we have nothing of value so I don't know why anyone here thinks there will be GM's across the league lining up to trade for any of these guys. They might take a chance of DLO or Randle, but they're not going to offer anything in return because neither of those guys are worth much. We're basically an expansion franchise right now that's starting from scratch.

Yep. The cat is out of the bag: the Lakers would like an All Star player.
Of course they would. Establishing it as a top down priority does tend to hurt your transactional leverage, just like saying you're going to trade a player today does. _________________ “We must always take sides. How many teams around the league do you think were unaware until today that getting an All Star is a priority for us? It would be one thing if she said all our players are available but that isn't what she said. Unless there's a franchise out there living in a cave, I'm pretty sure verbalizing our intentions to improve the roster did not blow any transactional leverage, not to mention they could have an all star next year without making a transaction at all. _________________ 14-5-3-12

Again, everyone knows the team wants to improve, but if there's a deal facto deadline on acquiring one, yes, that hurts your leverage. Even teams thinking that Jeanie and magic feel pressure to make a big immediate splash is a difficulty that has to be surmounted, and going out and basically confirming it tells every gm out there to hold out for more, because the new team is desperate. _________________ “We must always take sides. I remember watching Magics all star game when he came out of retirement. They is one of my better NBA memories. Fast forward to last season, I saw maybe the 1st quarter. Too damn boring with no Lakers in it. Now, I plan to attend the game next season since its in L.A., but I would o my pay money for tickets if there's a Laker in it. Otherwise, I would just go hang out at L.A. line and enjoy the festivities.
Ocho is right. The overreaction on here is quite much. I guess years of losing will do that.
Yeah, especially if she meant that it would be nice to have one of our current young players make the All-Star team Really, people get off the Jeanie-hate wagon _________________ Ahhhh, those were the days...time for a new beginning!

Can't we sign an All Star FA this summer? So much nitpicking over every word.
Here's a thought, learn from your dad and stop running your mouth, and no one will parse the words you don't say. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
None of the players on the roster are untouchable....but you know what sets a franchise back a decade? Making a trade for an over the hill all star player with a fat contract.
All signs point to the Lakers getting bent over in a deal for a star this summer. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though."
