I think the competition with another cat is key. Gotta be harder to train a cat to do that by itself. They might feel more anxious about ringing the bell if they perceive the cat next to them is a competitor, otherwise either one would turn its nose at a Tender Vittle. My fam had a housecat that would high-tail scamper into the kitchen if it heard the Reddi-Wip aerosol noise. He learned how to add extra dramatic effect to feeding time if he smelled something tastier than the usual such as a can of tuna. Mr. Tux was a clever puss. Pour one out for the lad. He was one of the great ones. 15 years. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

I love that one. It's been all over Facebook and Twitter too.
As soon as my cats hear the switch being "flicked" on the coffee maker, they come running from wherever they are because they know their breakfast is next. |

The cat my family had while I was growing up was one of the smartest animals I've ever known.
We'd let him out at night. When he wanted to come back in, he'd climb the side wall by my window. And meow till I woke up. Then he'd meet me at the front door (other side of house).
Whenever we'd sit down for dinner, he'd grab any open chair nearby to be one of the gang. He wouldn't try to climb on the table or get attention. He'd just chill. Pretty sure he was a human reincarnated into a cat.
He lived a good life. I miss him everyday. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

It's impressive that those cats have trained their human to provide food when they ring a bell. This could be a great breakthrough for cats everywhere. |
