Well here's another thread that will be locked because of overreaction to the law of averages.

And we don't have it, Philly does. I would much lose a draft pick than in the Finals. One says you are good and one says you are bad.

No team has ever lost their top 3 picks. Its not like a wallet, or a set of keys. Once you have it, you have it and cannot lose it.

And winning a top 3 draft pick is also worse than losing the NBA finals.

Because one means your team made it to the finals, and the other means you didn't even make the playoffs.

Brooklyn will potentially have lost THREE top 3 picks due to the KG/Pierce trade debacle.

good thing the Lakers haven't lost the pick yet and still have about a 50% chance of keeping it.

Do people think the worst teams get a draft pick and then the lottery determines if you get to keep it? Thats not how it works.

Maybe thats where the confusion is on all this?

At no time do we own the pick. Thus we cannot lose or keep it.

Too many people trust the process. A process that has yet to be proven successful in the NBA.

And technically Philly currently has the rights to our pick.

Good point. The only pick we own is the late first.

We don't own any other pick even if we finish with the worst record we still only own a late first.

You'd rather have a pick than a championship? Isn't the point of one to attain the other?

Good lord, people. Overreact much?

Lost in this is the fact that we CANNOT lose a top 3 pick this year. It is literally impossible. Either we keep a top 3 pick or we lose the #4-6 pick (assuming we finish as the 3rd worst team).

Actually I don't even think you can say we keep a top 3 pick. Because we don't own one to keep.

Edit: Not entirely true. We own a late first round from Houston.

Losing becomes addictive and not just for the players. In a weird way, it might be good for us even if we miss out on it. Maybe that will stop enabling the losing mentality.

Worse than losing in the finals? Go support the freaking 76ers then.

I assume you think the 76'ers are the first team to be bad, get a some good draft picks, and either develop them or trade them to go on and be good?

Heard Daryl Morey recently speaking about it......out of the 1000's of simulations they have ran....tanking for top picks....or the process is the only method of building a quality team that produced consistent successful results.....but I am sure once or twice those methods for those stuck in the 80's would still work.

You won't find out until Embiid and Simmons get on the court together.
