A grand date in LA Lakers' history
On this date, Magic Johnson becomes the center of attention

Quote:
When you think of Magic Johnson, you think of him as a dazzling point guard, capable of scoring, leading and passing with astounding skill and wizardry.

At 6-foot-9, Johnson was big for a guard, but you certainly don’t think of him as a “big man.”

Thirty-seven years ago Tuesday, Johnson came up big in every possible way. He filled in at center for NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (who was out with an injured ankle) and scored 42 points in an NBA Finals-clinching Game 6 win for the Los Angeles Lakers over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Yeah he did, and 15 rebounds and 7 assists, a few to the silent assassin Jamal Wilkes, who had 37. Loved that ish, and we gettin No.1 today!

I like how the finals used to be in mid-May. We have not even started the ECF yet.

No wonder the players take so many games off in the regular season now. All of these 7 game series are just ridiculous.

What a great time that was. Winning and winning so excitingly. Side note: it was so nice that the playoffs completed before June. I miss that. The modern game's annual marathon of four by seven game series is just excruciatingly tedious.

I was born on this exact day!! Perhaps the reason I love the Lakers!

I am grateful for all the I have and couldn't ask for more on my birthday, but the #1 pick would sure be a nice bonus!
