...... I don't know what they could have done differently to stop it!

They traded their leading scorer
Sat all of the vets for the season
Played only the young guys, which is usually a recipe for losing and the
Rested the young guys if they had something as small as hang nail.

They did everything that you could do to lose games. You can't expect the players to tank. Jobs are on the line and players play. Now we just have to hope the basketball gods are gonna look out for us and we get some luck in the lottery. Losing our pick this year and 2019 is gonna really sting!

We could have sat DLO and JC in previous meaningless games (vs Memphis, Phoenix, Minny, etc), but other than that yes we have done a good job of tanking.

Well we put D lo and Clarkson in a new roles so there was some experimenting going on

Totally opposed to sitting either of them....the FO needs to know what they have with these young guys, and the young guys had to get more game experience.

I think the lakers did what they could do to keep the 2nd pick, PHX just sucks more than we suck, could be worse could be BKN handing over the number 1 pick to an already stacked Celtics team

We may loose our draft pick, but now we know that the 22 year old Ennis can actually play well in Luke's system. He and Nwaba are like extra draft picks.

Lol.

We have Moz/Deng/Young on the DNP list, we had Clarkson playing PG in recent games... the Lakers are doing everything they can to appease the fans... just cause we still have guys who want to prove there worth doesn't mean we can't appreciate the team... yeah getting a pick is important but some of these guys are playing for there NBA and Laker careers.

Is odd how some people seem to think that if we came in with the second-worst record we keep the pic, and the third worst record we lose the pic. The reality is we have about a 56% chance of keeping our pic if we have the third worst record and a 47% chance of keeping or pick if we have the second-worst record

you wrote that backwards, 3rd worse is ~47% and 2nd worse is ~56%

IDK, it is exciting to see this team win even with our scrubs. Makes me feel confident in Luke's system and some of our young talent.

Yeah. It's much smarter to play young players when their knees are sore.

Ennis, Nwaba, Randle, Nance and Clarkson are getting run. They are actually playing good D. The future is bright.

I've been saying this on multiple message boards to no avail.

Feels like every year we win theses meaningless games at the end that hurt our chances. Gotta realise that we've been pretty lucky the past few years as far as the lottery go. Or even getting Randle at 7. 10% more odds is significant however I'am not sure what else we could've done to lose that Spurs game last night. We had some of the all time worst line ups in there.

Nwaba ok. But Ennis is an unrestricted FA this summer. Have to pay him whatever his FMV is.

the sky is falling everyone, the sky is falling. The world is ending. OMG, the Lakers are doomed. They will forever be in the tank.

Ha ha....come on people. I think a lot of people here need to maybe disconnect from the Lakers until the summer so they can get their lives back in order.

I have been a Lakers fan since 1979. I am not worried about what is coming. I know next year will NOT be the same outcome as this year.

That, I am confident about.

Thought this another P&M thread about the tank but I agree.

Some comments here make me laugh, We found out Ennis can be a 3rd string backup pg and that is worth losing on a franchise player for years to come. Nice!

You will see- don't sleep on Ennis. He is a solid back up PG. Way better than what we had in Frodo and Calderon. Plus he is only 22 the same age as Randle, he has upside.

Sure, we can sign him to a cheap 1+1 contract with the team option like Nwaba.

I don't know what this regime could have done differently. They pulled out every trick in the book.

The previous regime on the other hand...

Actually I think the Spurs were taking it easy on us and wanted to spoil our draft. In an important game the Spurs would have trampled them easily.

IDK, the Lakers held the Spur's starters to their season low for points at 14 in the first quarter.

These young guys are actually playing D. Ennis is part of it and had a role in our win against the Grizz who were really trying to win.
