We would only be losing one lottery pick.

Yeah. Technically we lose this year's pick and the 2019 pick, but keep the 2018 pick and 2 2nd rounders.

And since we're having one of the best records in 2018, it's almost better to have the two 2nd rounders.

If you told me in October that at the end of the season:

Ingram would show he's on his way to becoming a true star.
DLo would blow up post-ASB, and even moreso after playing with JC.
Zu would show he can be a legit starter in the NBA.
Randle and Nance would start nicely expanding their offensive games.
We have some young bench guys who may be be future rotation players.
Luke is making an impact as he creates a strong team culture.
We'd start off 10-10 and have people talking about a playoff run.
Jim Buss would be fired.

And that on top of all of this, we'd have close to a 50/50 shot at keeping the pick ?

I'd have taken that deal in a heartbeat.

The lotto odds aren't that different than what we've had the last two years. It's basically a coin flip, just like the last two years.

I'd rather have 9% less odds and know that our young core has been getting the minutes they need to develop, which has shown us that we have one true star in Ingram and possibly a second in DLo, with Zu and Nance looking like real NBA players and Randle flashing amazing potential (albeit inconsistently)and showing real growth in his game.

This is what a rebuild looks like, and it's been a great year in the big picture sense, even if the zombie baby "more losses at any cost" crew just wants to whine and cry.

I like the optimism. So, you're predicting playoffs in 2019?

I'm expecting at least some sort of splash in free agency in two years. If Magic isn't able to bring anyone in to get us out of the lottery in two years, then what the hell did we fire Jim and Mitch for?

The good thing about this now is after tonight's Orlando win the best we can finish now is third worst. We can win out and not worry about worsening the odds. It's time to finally cheer for wins and the young studs.

Great point.

Nobody, even here, thought we were making the playoffs preseason and the assumption was that we were losing our 17 and 19 picks. We have a 50% chance to keep them, so that's good news for sure.

Been lots of good news this season

- dlo has progressed in terms of getting to the basket and his midrange game
- Randle appears to be more in control and his shooting has improved
- BI has had a great post asb break run, looks like the truth
- zubac is a talented hardworking kid
- Jim and Mitch fired

And some bad news

- mosdeng disaster, but without it you don't get jim and Mitch fired
- clarkson has regressed
- nance has not progressed
- Walton is just another guy, i haven't been all that impressed...but he's young

Our win total is at what everybody predicted and we have improving, healthy young players and momentum moving forward. I could see a nice leap in wins next year..35ish and then let's see what we can do to get PG13 over here.

All in all, not a bad year.
