This is why the wife and I are extremely hesitant to enroll our kids into a public school or, any school.

The frequency of this happening is pretty mind boggling....20 years ago, stuff like this happened but not to the degree that it is happening today. Our schools used to be an escape from the real world, now not anymore, even with all the extra security and fencing surrounding a school.

From the press conference it doesn't sound like the typical motive for a school shooting...it was a domestic incident where one adult came into the school and shot another adult....the kids weren't targeted but they were witnesses to the shooting. What a horrible situation to be a witness for all thsoe kids. They will be traumatized for life.

I'd say when you declare bankruptcy your city has hit rock bottom. It may not have been an ideal place to live being in the IE and all, but it hasn't been this bad.

It's consistently had one of the highest murder rates in the nation. Most of the IE considers it a cesspool.

Interesting perspective watching channel 2 news, the on scene reporter was asking all the parents how they will explain this to their kids. Seemed odd until he explained that he used to work in Colorado and had to explain Columbine to his kids.

Jonathan Martinez (8), one of the two boys critically wounded, has died. The other unnamed boy (9) is listed as stable.

Why can't these adults handle their problems responsibly and not put innocent children in harms way?

I haven't really watched the coverage as its too easily to be engrossed into it. I feel really bad for the kids who were witnesses, this event will change their lives forever.

I can't imagine dropping my son (9) or daughter (12) off at school, only to get a call or see a report a few hours later, that they've been shot.

What kind of azzhole goes to a school and puts innocent kids in harms way to exact revenge or whatever this was on a spouse/partner?

Your life sucks and you can't handle, go jump off a bridge and let everyone else go on with their lives. No need to take anyone else along with you. Freaking coward.

&%@#$! Soul crushing news.

But hey, the "good" news is that just about anyone who wants a gun can get one, especially under our new administration.

One has to wonder why human beings will hold in so much pain and delusion and confusion and not seek help

Do they hate themselves as some speak about

Do they think they deserve the incredible pain of their own sadistic emotional torment

What caused that man to disconnect with ALL HUMANS.. he disconnected from the last piece of his soul and randomly murdered fellow human beings... totally innocent ones

He must have created HELL in his mind..

Darkness cannot remove darkness
Only Light can do that

Hate cannot remove hate
Only Love can do that

It's being reported that he was a pastor. Better add church, to that list.

exactly. I know you can use reason with some set on killing their ex and then themselves but I would like to think that even someone at that level of scum would have enough decency to not do it in a classroom full of kids.
