I never wish injury on a player.
But this is getting exciting.

With Steph's arm injury, this could go from exciting to downright terrifying if Boston sneaks into the Finals. Kerr's out and Brown would be a huge liability against Stephens.

Maybe once is a fluke, but if they do it again, then they'll need to think long and hard about paying IT. There is truth to the "you can't win with little guy" saying. Especially, if he's your best player. Tim Legler, who thought the Celtics could do better without IT, is looking smart right now.

Hehe, but he's got me here. When he said it, my eyebrows frowned like what are you talking about dummy. But sure enough, the Celtics played better in game 3. Even if they had lost, Legler still comes out looking good because it wasn't a blowout like those games in Boston.

We'll know it's a fluke if it's another blow out in game 4, but if it's another tough grind it out game, then Legler was on to something. Defensively, IT is just a liability.

Marcus Smart had the game of his life tonight. If Smart got a three point shot, he could be an all-star. His defense is at an elite level and his hustle/motor is never stopping, he was guarding LeBron tonight, a point guard, guarding LeBron... all that's really missing is a consistent jumper. But he gave cleveland the business tonight.

7-10 from three? From Marcus Smart?

Legler is the only ESPN pundit to pick Celtics winning over Lakers in 08.

Haven't felt bad at all that we missed out on Smart, and getting Randle. But if he develops a shot, then yeah, he'll be a heck of a player. But he's a terrible shooter, and has a long way to go.

amazingly enough we could say the same about Randle's developing shot. His has gotten further along than Smart's has amazingly enough but Smart sure had an amazing one tonight, on balance and good form for once as well.

Smart plays great defense and can effectively guard 3 positions. Randle plays zero defense.

I feel his defense will drop off once he goes all out on offense.

As a Celtics fan who loves Marcus Smart's big time, clutch plays at the end of games and his hard defense, his offense is terrible usually because IT, Bradley and other players are asked to be the primary scorers.

However, the main difference in this game was that Stevens asked Smart to take on the leadership role this time and he proved that he can be a great player tonight. I've seen Smart with more confidence and scoring more when he is put into this role. With Thomas out, he had to do what he did to win the game.

The greatest Smart contribution is on defense, Julius is not a jump shot away, his defensive awareness is so poor that in several games he puts huge numbers just to give it back on defense.

That said, I'm not a big fan of Marcus Smart, I look at him as a perennial backup.

Marcus Smart is a flopper, and despite his name, not a smart one, but great game for him

Not a chance; Even if Byron Scott coached the GSW they would still mop the floor with Boston.

I was somewhat thinking the same thing. Smart was hitting a lot of 3's.

Yeah that's the thing, defensively they're way better off without him. Offensively they're probably better with him but that's nothing that some hot shooting can't help. 7-10 from 3 for Marcus Smart probably qualifies as hot shooting.

Celtics got lucky. Cavs will likely dominate Celtics in games 4 and 5 to end the series.

Glad the Celtics showed some heart to make it tougher on the Cavs.

So did LeBron intentionally play passive and defer to PROVE his MVP status? Funny timing to have a "bad game", right after getting snubbed.
