If the ping pong balls don't fall in our favor Lakers would be witty n wise to sign D.Rose on a short 1 year deal similar to Rondo.... Hear me out....No team is gonna multi max or anything close to that...Not even New York...I think he's done there...Sign him to a 1 year....He plays his a## off...Stays healthy... Something to prove... Figure we win 35-40 games.... Possible....small chance at playoffs...If not low teens to 11/12 pick in lottery... along with that...and Rose's good season our young talent...we sell that to Paul George who's already leaning towards possibly singing after next season and Demarcus Cousins....call me crazy but neither of us expected the big 3 in boston (notice no cap on bean town) or Miami and you know it..... Maybe I'm an extreme optimistic Laker fan but oh well..... Thoughts?

A couple of issues.

1. I can't envision a player with as extensive an injury history as Derrick Rose settling for a 1 year deal. It's beyond optimistic to think teams like New York, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Utah, Indiana, or Dallas all wouldn't offer him a longer contract.

2. If our ability to become a 35-40 win team is predetermined by us acquiring Rose, why would George be persuaded to come here if he knows that Rose is leaving in free agency?

3. How on Earth do you envision us freeing the cap space to sign Cousins after George? Barring trades we would be well over the salary cap.

The best part is that having DRose on the roster would do wonders to speed up the development of our young core. He's exactly the kind of unselfish, team-first, great locker room guy the Lakers need.

D Rose stays healthy? This must be that framework matrix thing Coulson talked about.

Hey... BJ Armstrong? Is that you? When did you become an agent?

At the expense of DLo's development. Why?

Why not trade for Melo and Noah while youre at it and change the name to La Knicks.

If we lose the pick this year, then winning 35 games next season would be even more awful. I say if we lose the pick this year, that we go into extreme tank mode next year to get a top 3 pick.

That's not happening. Unless we're really that awful and all our young players have regressed.

Take Lou Williams off the team this year and we were pretty much the worst team in the league. It does depend on who else is brought in next year, but if nobody good is brought in and we just keep the same group I think it could easily be a top 3 bad team.

Injuries messed up and I think we're playing better without Lou. Much more coherent basketball with a bigger emphazis on defense.

This should be in LG frontpage and in any thread opened this off-season.

No Rose - No Rondo - No Melo

Lol, stopped at D.Rose, rather have Lou back than Rose.

But if we do lose the pick, aside from giving N. Young a 1 yr deal, u bite the bullet and see if this young group has "really turned the corner" and "established an identity".

If after 30 games, the answer is likely no, time to shop around or tank it up if it's really bad.

.....and hope that George doesn't get his All NBA 3rd team selection this year.

D. Rose would be a great asset to have if the game was played during the Sivil War era, but not in today's game.
