Quote:
Lakers President of Basketball Operations and 1979 No. 1 overall pick Magic Johnson will represent the team at the NBA Draft Lottery on May 16.
While Magic will handle the televised portion of the event, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka will represent the team in the back where the lottery combinations will actually be drawn.
The Lakers have a 46.9 percent chance to land in the top three of the lottery, and thus keep their pick, which is top three protected. Should the Lakers fall out of the top three, however, the pick would go to Philadelphia.

Magic Johnson, Rob Pelinka to represent Lakers during draft lottery drawing
Quote:
Johnson will appear on the lottery show that will be broadcast on May 16. The actual drawing for draft positioning will happen off camera before the show. Each team will have a representative observe the drawing. The Lakers will have general manager Rob Pelinka backstage, the team said.
Yep. I didn't expect Jeanie to go this time. She don't wanna sit there with the camera panning in on her if the Lakers get bumped after they decided in the last week to bust their asses for wins. Pff. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

What if we get the fourth pick and the Suns (second worst overall record) get the first pick? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Since the actual drawing for draft positioning will happen off camera before the show and each team will have a representative observe the drawing, I wonder if Rob Pelinka will be able to get the word/verdict out to Magic via some kind of head-set or carrier pigeon ( ) before the actual televised show even happens?
I wonder if the reps in front of the cameras already know the outcome before the actual show happens. Be interesting to see facial expressions that might tip us off?
They have to find a way to put Magic and Bird as close to each other as possible. Too much history and too much present to ignore. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.
