Finally saw it last night. Loved it. Joins "Get Out" as my favorite film of the year. Francis is AMAZING, as always.

I tweeted after he won the Oscar that I knew he was destined to one day win one of those after I saw him in "Galaxy Quest" lol. Seriously though, love that dude.

I have not seen a movie of his I didn't like. He has been underrated for so long. So happy he won.

Rockwell is so good at what he does that his fame plays the price for it. Meaning, he's such a chameleon that disappears into roles so seamlessly, you don't really put a face or a name to the actor.

His win and Mark Rylance's are two of my favorite Oscar wins ever.

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum; I was beyond bummed when Stallone lost to Rylance. Not that Rylance isn't a good character actor. He is. John C. Reilly is another one of those that can play just about any role, and do it well. Others I'd mention: Chris Cooper, Tom Wilkinson, Stanley Tucci, Michael Shannon, Laura Linney, Mare Winningham, Patricia Clarkson, and Michelle Williams.

Rylance was the soul of "Bridge" in a way that Stallone wasn't with "Creed". And he took a subtle read of 3 little words and made them a mantra.

Why? I was left feeling unfulfilled. Did they kill the suspected rapist? Did they embark on a killing of rapist they thought guilty but not arrested spree? Did they become a Bonnie and Clyde? So many what's next? I like conclusions.

I have to admit the movie completely held my interest. I haven't been so spellbound by a film in quite awhile.

This is my take and why I liked it:

it mirrored real life where there is never really a conclusion but rather moving on to something else. It gave closure to the storyline of catching her daughter's killer both to the characters and audience; they accept that the killer may never be caught and somehow need to find peace with it.

"Life goes on" seemed to be a theme, not letting bad things consume your entire life. I saw this with SPOILER Woody Harrelson's death too because he was worried his family would get stuck grieving like Mildred had, he wanted them to continue living their lives.

I felt like it gave plenty of closure, just not in the traditional sense where everything is wrapped up/answered.

That's deep! Your take definitely gives me another perspective. It allows conclusion. Not casting stars was genius. The characters were played by actors that seemed to be every day people.

I'm left with, what's next? Sequel possibilities?

Yep. Both characters had reached a new point in their respective journeys and concluded that chapter. It wasn't really about what they ultimately do, as the discussion at the end indicates. I thought it was appropriate and far better than a typical "conclusion".

Finally caught it. Loved it.

Agreed with both DMR/Los' takes. The ending initially gave me pause but I eventually came to the same conclusion.

It might be a cultural environment thing, but Get Out just didn't keep my interest. I don't really undesrtand the praise it's getting.

Three Billboards is amazing, though, Woody might be one of my favourite actors. I've liked Rockwell since his role in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, so I'm really glad for the recognition he got this awards season.

Same here. loslakersss reply to my saying "horrible ending" because I like closure gave me insight to see closure. His/her "moving on" is something I hadn't given any thought. It was closure but as stated, just not in the traditional sense.

Casting played a huge part in the movie. No super stars allowed me to concentrate on the plot not the actors. I haven't been as glued to a movie in quite some time. It never stalled. always moving. I don't remember a boring portion. I wanted the movie to keep going.

Has it garnered any nominations?

Yep big fan of both. Loved Rockwell in that movie The Way Way Back, as well as Moon. He seems to have great versatility and is a great character actor.

As for this movie, I really liked it. For some reason I thought it was a new Cohen Bros movie, with Frances McDormand's involvement and it's darks sense of humor and all, but I was pleased to realize during the end credits that it was directed by someone I hadn't heard of. Now I have a new filmmakers filmography to check out.

Brilliant movie. Just watched it. My only complaint is that I need another 2 hours of this movie. When it ended I was like, that’s it? I need more!

So I decided to watch Fargo again.

Edit: Fargo definitely cures the itch, do it.

I agree. I watched it because of this thread. Was not my cup of tea but I can see why people like it.
