Kevin Pritchard to take over. I think this may be good news as he is likely more amenable to a rebuild.
I could see Pacers ownership/FO saying that we need to rebuild, and Bird just saying, "I'm too old for this..."
Now, is Pritchard going to hard ball even more? Not sure. But I think he would be more open to a rebuild. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Larry Bird is stepping down as Pacers president, league sources tell @TheVertical. Kevin Pritchard will take over basketball operations. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

interesting, because my impression was PG and Bird weren't that close. Could this possibly be an attempt to keep PG in Indy instead of breaking them up? They can build around PG and Turner. |

Imo bird doesn't want his name on a low leverage trade that is possible with PG13.
Maybe their owner is another Vivek and is cool with clarkson and 28th pick |

Interesting take. But I'm thinking it's Pritchard (49 years old) who may be ready for a much needed rebuild. When the PG13/Granger/Hibbert/West/Lance group was broken up, the Pacers just kept it on life support with PG13.
I think this move means PG13 is being traded. Now, whether that's the Lakers, not sure. It may mean Pritchard will stir up a massive bidding war. Maybe the Bird-Ainge buddy (F up Lakers) duo won't happen anymore. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Prichard's first move ever as a gm was to draft oden over durant. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Bird just watched Lebron flip the switch and realized as long as LeBron wants to win titles he is gonna do it, Bird could be spending his time better than to compete for 2nd place at best in the Eastern Conference every year |

it just doesn't make any sense to me for Pritchard to rush in and dump his best asset unless PG has flat out told them he is going to leave. PG and Turner are a good base to start with, the have a mid-1st rounder and a new GM with a propensity to wheel and deal on draft day, so if they add a 3rd piece, maybe pick up a free agent or two, maybe PG will stay. Here's one of Pritchard's moves, can't crap on this one:
A second draft-day deal which sent the #7 pick in the draft, Randy Foye, along with cash considerations, to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for the #6 pick, Brandon Roy.
edit: actually, I can add this one too:
A draft-day deal which sent Tyrus Thomas (the team's draft choice at #4) and Viktor Khryapa to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for the #2 pick, LaMarcus Aldridge
