It's clear that our former front office didn't let us in a good situation. We have a couple of veterans that aren't producing and are eating our cap space, we don't have a single young piece that a casual fan would choose to build a contender around and our chance to keep our own lottery pick is < 50%.

All valid points, and along similar lines that I brought up before being lambasted in this forum by Kupchak/Jim Buss supporters...

Casual fans are stupid. IMO Ingram is going to be a monster.
But the rest of the post about a 2 really really really bad veteran signings is on point. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss
Thanks emplay, I would expect the FO to clear cap space, i don't think there is much to work with without getting rid of contracts especially since we might need to potentially entice PG13 by bringing in star FAs.

So effectively we have roughly one max slot if we keep the pick, and an additional ten million if we don't keep Nick Young? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Lakers can't get to a mid-tier max slot w/o trading or buying out a player - they can get close but not quite there for a Hayward, Griffin type _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus

To get one max slot we would have to get rid of both Black and Young and we would have no money left over.
I'm fairly ignorant of how the cap works... Is even 28.3 million not enough for a max slot now? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Not sure Lakers make a run at them - but if they got a yes, then they can clear cap to make room _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus

At lot of rumors of the laker's going after Hayward or Griffin and I'm assuming the Lakers won't mind getting multiple stars in FA so I'm sure there is motivation to make more cap room.
there aren't any real rumors - that's nothing but complete and utter speculation, simply because they will be FA this summer _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus
