That's not a fair representation of what Magic said - but that they may preserve cap space for 2018 is not surprising - that was clear when they got Brewer for Lou. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

Can you be specific on what Magic meant? I know there is smoke screens and all cause I really believe the Lakers are working ways to get rid of Deng and Mozgov to clear space for either Hayward or CP3.. but maybe that might not be in the cards and they want to get into the 2018 FA game. |

The Lakers are not doing all that - obviously if some sucker called up asking for Deng or Mozgov, LA would be thrilled but come on, let's keep it real _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

if Hayward happens to pick the Lakers - and he probably won't - they'll find a way to make room for him.

So if PG13 trade happens and he wants to play with a specific FA, does that change things? |

So there is a chance that the same roster basically comes back next year with minor tweaks? |

Another really big mistake by Mitch and Jim was how they constructed Deng's Mosgov's and Clarkson's contract.
They are all lower this year and then jump in the 4th year.
If they really had good plan and looked at available FA's this year and next, they would have never made such a decision.
A great GM would have front loaded their contracts. |

I mean to be honest, I won't be surprised, part of me is egar to see how improved the young guys are next year, but I still think the mode the Lakers are in right now is winning, so even if the same roster comes back the expectation is gonna be making the playoffs. |

100% True.
You can make an argument that they signed them to start building a team and provide veteran leadership and while it is a bad argument, there is no excuse for how they structured the contracts. |

I know, but we have a great communicator in Pelinka who agents have already raved about. |

Which amounts to nothing - a great communicator is not going to get a team to give up their good players - that's not real life.
If there's a compelling reason why a team has to get out of their good players - perhaps the Lakers luck into being in the right place at the right time. If you're expecting that to happen, you're setting yourself up for disappointment _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

I'm not expecting anything like that to happen, my point is that I think the Lakers will be trying to make moves. |

It's always nice talking hoops with you, there is always gonna be disagreements, I just think this Organization is thirsty on getting back to winning. |

And 30 teams are thirsty - 1 to repeat
Lakers have variables they can't know the answers to yet til the lottery - but they'll have difficult choices. If they find a trade partner of note, they're going to have to give up significant value to improve quickly _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

I'm looking forward to see a lot of rumors this summer not only from the Lakers but through out the NBA I'm a basketball geek. |

Kubchak and Jim really left a number on the Lakers.
This is noted in other posts.
Two aging non productive veterans who take up large salary cap.
Poor trades leaving Lakers with minimal draft picks and depending on luck.
It is so good that they are gone.
But it will take the present FO a lot of time to fix their mistakes. It seems
like they were doing it on purpose to make the Lakers bad. |

It's clear that our former front office didn't let us in a good situation. We have a couple of veterans that aren't producing and are eating our cap space, we don't have a single young piece that a casual fan would choose to build a contender around and our chance to keep our own lottery pick is < 50%. |
Like a casual fan you find in a bar? _________________ LeBron, AD, & _________. Stay tuned.
