You cannot eat a live crow and it still be alive when you're done.

Unless you happen to be Jon Snow.

Or Naruto.

Excellent point.

for me the best thing is that we can move forward and go all in next year because there is no pick to tank for. Also I like that the message that the FO is sending right now is that they are going to move forward with the young guns and make their move in the summer of 18'. To me that is exciting and I think we will make good strides this season, I expect Russell and especially Ingram to make a big leap this season.

I was one of the most vocally pissed off posters when Luke engineered that meaningless late season winning streak that I thought would cost us our pick. Well clearly that win streak saved our butts as it allowed Phoenix to move past us for the 2nd worst record and in essence if we remained at 2nd worst we would've lost our picks while turning Philly into a monster with the #3 and #4 picks. Instead we swapped places with Phoenix and moved up to #2 while they went to #4.
So thank you Luke Walton!! There was a method to the madness and it all worked out and we now can finally put the team tank behind us for at least a generation. Next year we cheer for a bunch of wins and by 2019 we will be a completely different and improved team.
Today was a great day in Laker history.

Props to you for owning it.

Well done sir. Respect.

The problem was never that better odds would be better. In a vacuum, there was never any dispute about it.

The problem was the chicken little crew hysterically overreacting to the losses and proclaiming that we had lost the pick after that win steak, as if the 9% difference was the difference between a lock and a certain loss. "Fire Luke" and other such idiocies were a part of all that.

It was like having a toddler tantrum on LG, and apparently, there is still some childish petulance still out there.

That's what the crow is for. Hopefully you'll both enjoy it.

Not sure how us having a greater chance at the one or two pick would have hurt our chances in the draft? I'm not one for throwing games so i was fine with the win streak, but not sure how the win streak is what got us the pick?

Yes you can! I don't understand the machinations of how that would actually work, per se, but I do love me a good argument.

They blatantly tanked.

The basketball gods just let it slide.

I think this is a very bad reason to "eat crow". If you believe the ~10% more chance to keep our pick was worth tanking for this result doesnt change anything and you should stand by that belief. Its kind of like sending a 50% ft shooter to shoot a technical. Whether he makes it or not thats still a dumb decision.

BTW I am not one of those who thought we needed to blatantly tank, infact i wished we kept lou williams to help us next year. My point is that this result is NOT a good reason to change your mind on whether we should have tanked or not.

Kudos to OP. I understood the angst for fans who wanted the pick, but I had a feeling we would get it this year. At least you owned it. But at the end, we're all Lakers fans so we should enjoy this together.

This Xs 1,000.. If some of you were Suns fans - you'd be slamming the team for not losing more than Jersey to land the 1st pick as opposed to accepting that it's the fate of the lottery.

Nice post OP, but we're all laker fans so time to move on and focus on this thought for the rest of the day:

At least we aren't the Suns. Hahaha.

That the lottery delivered the #2 draft position signified a fine opportunity for the club to improve itself. Time will tell whether it was a great day or not, that is, whether it was an opportunity fulfilled or not.
