1) Never trust a guy who's place you stand to take
2) IMO changing his shot at this point in his career would be suicide. Its too much of an adjustment. It wouldn't be a minor tweak.
3) I'm just a guy. Jason Kidd is a HOF player and he had one of the best shots in his day. |
Jason Kidd is right. This is a throw away season so it's better to start the fix now. |
If Shawn Marion can be effect with that crazy looking shot then I'm not sure why Lonzo needs to change his shot |
Marions jump shots were off of catch and shoot opportunities from steve nash.
As a franchise point guard..Lonzo will have the ball in his hands a lot. Right now with his shot form it'll be very difficult for him to shoot dribble pullups going to the right.
Hes gonna need to fix his shot to maximize his potential. |
You state it as if it's a fact, but it's not a fact....yet. That may/may not prove to be the case. I'll enjoy the process to see. |
i think hell still be great without changing it. but imagine if he can shoot dribble pull ups going right? opens up another side of the floor for him and makes him less predictable.
really hard to drive right and wind up to the left side of your head to shoot. I'm very excited as well! |
Yep, no doubt about that. What will make his shot most effective, whether he eventually changes it or not, is his style of play.
He's not trying to take guys one on one, he's not trying to back guys down in iso, he just keeps things moving which he enables him and the team to get good and mostly open shots. |
I agree with this. He doesn't really attempt contested shots. He just wants an open look whether it's for himself or a teammate. Most of his 3's won't be contested unless it's end of the shotclock. |

Hmm, that isn't the only option though. He could have said, the skys the limit for the kid and I'm sure he'll do great things if he puts in the time and work. |

Yes, you can see his big baller shirt, and he has hair so it can't be Lavar. On second look, that might be a hat. So the person could be bald. |

Lonzo said he’ll definitely be wearing his new BBB shoes for the first game and we’ll see from there. Has the freedom to wear what he wants. |

Quote: | Lonzo could be the key to unlocking Brandon Ingram, the no. 2 pick in last year’s draft. The two showed chemistry in their one summer league game together, and a point guard who always looks to pass will give Ingram more opportunities. Lonzo will create easy shots for him in transition and open up the floor in the half court. Ingram’s struggles as a rookie shouldn’t have been a surprise. He was a rail-thin 19-year-old on one of the worst teams in the league. The potential he showed at Duke is still there. There aren’t many wings in the NBA with his scoring and passing ability, much less the length of a center (7-foot-3 wingspan). Ingram could thrive in a multiple-ball-handler offense where he could play on and off the ball and make quick decisions in space.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, whom the Lakers signed to a one-year, $17.7 million contract in the offseason, should also improve next to Lonzo. KCP struggled with sharing a backcourt with Reggie Jackson, a ball-dominant guard, in Detroit. Lonzo’s more democratic approach means his teammates get more shots and chances to touch the ball over the course of the game. Caldwell-Pope isn’t just a 3-and-D specialist. He averaged 2.5 assists per game on only 1.1 turnovers last season, and he was in the 70th percentile in the league in scoring out of the pick-and-roll. He was better with Ish Smith than he was with Jackson. He can be a secondary playmaker in an offense where the ball moves freely from side to side.
Lonzo is a force multiplier. A guy with his skill set can be more effective in the NBA than in the NCAA because there is more talent around him. Since every NBA team has numerous guys who can create their own shot, field goal attempts are a zero-sum game. The more shots one player takes, the fewer for everyone else, which means the ones who can improve an offense without taking a lot of shots are incredibly valuable. The problem is most NBA players with a low usage rate either can’t shoot, don’t make good decisions, or are unhappy with their role. No one in the league played the way Lonzo did at UCLA. He would have been the only player in the NBA last season who took fewer than 10 field goal attempts per game, shot better than 40 percent from 3, and had an assist-to-turnover ratio greater than 3-to-1.

This is why I think Lonzo is the key factor as to whether 2 max players come. He is the perfect kind of "PG" to pair with scorers like LBJ/PG13 b/c he doesn't need the ball in his hands from a usage standpoint to be effective. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

The guy is already a legend and he's never even played a single NBA game, I'm not a looong time Laker fan (since 1996 to be exact) but I can't remember something like that for a Laker...
The hype is growing incredibly fast !! |

Lonzo had chemistry with everyone on the floor. He made Kuzma look like a superstar and he made Zubac look like a decent player (no offense). We know what the team can do with Lonzo on the floor. What we don't know is what happens when he sits. That is the biggest question mark. Will the Lakers be competitive without having to overuse Lonzo? _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024 |
