As I recall, you and the Film Guy were dismissing Lonzo and propping Fultz but I am good with it, jump on board!

I loved Lonzo, what in the world are you talking about?

GoldenThroat = the Film Guy

Lanny's always made unprovoked, disparaging remarks about me, about how I just teach 13-year olds what slip screens are, etc. It was actually my first motivation to take this more seriously, so I could someday shove in his face how I get to go to all of the Lakers practices/home games, get paid to do it, and have the respect of the Lakers organization and basketball community.

But I'm sure whatever job he has that makes him so unnecessarily aggro is great too.

This is a legendary clapback. Wooooof

Reminds me of Jordan calling out Leroy Smith at his HOF induction ceremony.

Up to +0.87 in RPM, ranking him 86th in the entire NBA. 21st amongst PGs.

I can't wait til he develops a proper floater and learns to absorb and embrace contact going to the rim. He just makes so much happen and impacts the game on both ends more than I thought he would. His 3pt shooting the last 2 months has been pretty good, hopefully that confidence carries through the season

I'm really liking Lonzo's defense and knack for getting steals. Apparently his DRPM is 1.97 right now! That's really impressive. Second among rookies behind Bell, and 38th in the ENTIRE league.

I wonder if things might have been different if the Lakers knew he was this good on defense. My biggest worries was a backcourt of Russell and Ball would have been the worst backcourt defense in the league. But now.. oh well.

On drives, he almost always gives up his dribble around the FT line and rarely comes to a jump stop. Using lateral movement and more changes of pace woul definitely help him be in a position to use his body to shield the defender as now he is almost always reaching from far away and having to put extreme arc on his attempt or put it up from a crazy angle.

Yeah, those were the days. Arguing for Fox for the same reason.

He's such an aware player with excellent instincts and timing. Last night he was helping out throughout the night and almost had 2 more steals.

3 of the TOs he got charged with were passes that were difficult but only because he was trying to save the ball from going out of bounds and it went right through Kuz, KCP, and Nance's fingers.

BI and Lonzo were dominant last night and it was great to see.

I might get skewered for this, but I think his hair had a lot to do with this. The fro was throwing off cocking motion and release...since he cut it his shooting motion has resembled what it was at UCLA.

I'm curious what KIROE thinks, as he doesn't really use the "head space" that KIROE refers too.

KIROE approves of this message.

I do question the basketball IQ of those.

Eh. There is a diversity of opinion concerning both players. It isn't a question of basketball IQ as much as a question of expectations and projections. What did you expect them to be when they were drafted, and what do you project that they will turn out to be?

That's so crazy. Jordan Bell's DRPM might be +2.63 but taller players get a bigger DRPM advantage. So I'm not sure Bell's DRPM indicates he's any better defensively than Lonzo, which is flatly insane b/c Lonzo will (imo) be transformational on offense in his prime.

Totally off-topic, but the most insane thing about CP3's DRPM scores in years past (he hit +2.8 once) is that exact point about DRPM penalizing players simply for being short.

A few days ago, I was thinking the hair was messing with him.
So I looked up his #s after the hair cut.
But his % didn't start getting better until weeks later.

Forget haircut! Who can give me some stats (and I'm being serious) of Ball with and without that undershirt! Most people look stupid and play terrible with an undershirt. Ennis. Howard. Ball seems to play even better, although he was playing well before the shoulder injury. Any stats you want. I'm just curious.

In the traditional sense yes, but it looked to me like the back of his hand was hitting the hair on his release.

I expected both to be stars, and both are looking like they are well on their way to becoming that.

Only for those who didn't actually watch him at UCLA . I think most people judged him on one big game where he played hurt (Kentucky).

Do we (LG) care that he never gets to the line?

Anyone remember those rumors that we were gonna trade the #2 pick for #5 and #10? Thank the lord almighty that it never came to fruition I think it was David Aldridge who reported the rumor.

I'm interested in what other people think. I don't really care, so long as he's shooting the 3 ball well.
