His defense has been way more than solid this whole season.

His jumpers going in will make him truly unguardable.

No....he faked the knee injury so he could work on his rapping career and signing $200 autographs.

JK

Exactly. He would be so much better if he just focused on the game.

And by the way, I'm being facetious (since the last time I said something similar people lacked the discernment to tell )

I remember that! I think most of us knew better but why jump in and spoil the fun?

Last 14 games - 37 for 89 if I'm not mistaken. Yup 41.5%. Just like his UCLA numbers.

What's hilarious was Bresnahan was talking about how defense is one of the things Lonzo has to work on. Seriously, so many NBA writers just bleat the same old preconceptions. Young player therefore bad defense. I'm baffled as to whether they watch the games.

He's looked pretty good these last 2 games. The confidence is growing. Kid is going to be a high impact player in this league.

Lonzo is one of the better Laker defenders at the guard position in a LONG time.

Hart also sometimes forgets the NBA ranges of his assignments, but he is very tough to drive on or post up and rebounds like a demon.

I have said for years, until you tighten up the defense, the stats are worthless as far as offense.

Yeah he does need to improve. Only top 10 in DRPM for all guards as a rookie. He should be #1 next year.

Seriously! These guys have one (bleep) job: Watch and research Lakers basketball. Bresnahan must have some dirt on TW Sports CEO cuz he has 0 business being on TV talking Lakers.

Just being top 10 DRPM for all guards is already elite, or pretty close to it. To do it as a 20 yo rookie? This is one of my favorite things to point out in non-Laker forums. People have no clue how good this guy is.

Not since a guy like Jason Kidd (which makes sense) have I seen a guy who's stat line doesn't tell even half the story. Ball has a way of putting his stamp on a game where, if you weren't paying attention, you'd think he did nothing at all. His game isn't meant for casual observers, which is why the national media has been so slow to get his value. I guarantee you though that, in today's advanced stats and analytics NBA, NBA front offices see what is going on - bet opposing players do too.

You're right. He's a guy that can impact the game at an elite level without godly stats or incredible HL plays. Jason Kidd or John Stockton style.

I was being slightly facetious given the narrative that he can't play defense.

Interestingly, if you account for players getting 30+ minutes, he is actually top 20 in the entire NBA AS A ROOKIE.

I will trade Lonzo, Ingram, Kuz + 19 unprotected 1st rounder for Giannis in a heartbeat. Maybe for AD as well.

Paul George's praise was suuuuper high. When Lonzo is on his game on both ends, it looks like a guy who's in MVP discussions.. he didn't have the minutes or quite the (healthy) offensive impact tonight.. But I remember the Spurs game in January, jeez..that was play after play on both ends
