I think Ingram should be used as a relatively fair barometer of what to expect from Zo next year. Ingram averaged 40.2%/29.4%/62.1% as a rookie, at a 47.4% TS%. In his second year, Ingram jumped to 47.0%/39.0%/68.1%, at a 53.6% TS%. I would have liked Ingram's FT% to have increased to above the 70% mark, but still really good improvement overall. I'd like to see similar improvement with Ball.

Last year, Ball averaged 36.0%/30.5%/45.1%, at a 44.4% TS%. Using Ingram as a baseline (with the exception of FT shooting, since I think Zo should be expected to improve much more from there), I'd want Zo next year, at a minimum, to jump to 42%/33%/60%, at a 48% TS%. If he wants to impress me, 44%/35%/65%, at a 52% TS% would get that done.

My minimum stat line for Zo next year (no Lebron) is 14 PPG (42%/33%/60% at 48 TS%), 7 RPG, 9 APG. With Lebron, I'd say a minimum of 14 PPG (44%/35%/60% at 51 TS%), 5 RPG, 6 APG. If Zo wants to blow me away next year (without Lebron) and shut up all the haters, I'd say something like 16+ PPG (45+%/35+%/65+%. at 52+ TS%), 8+ RPG 10+ APG.

Perennial all star numbers in his second year would be pretty nice paired with his great D. He plays D like he did last year and puts up those numbers he’ll be an all-nba player next year.

^Yep, I'm sure putting up Ben Simmons-like play would completely change the national narrative on him. I don't know if that's an all-nba player (because voters tend to focus on scoring and he still has a lot of minds to change), but that definitely gets him in the discussion. Anyway, again, I'm not saying I expect that from him next year or that he would have to put up those numbers to satisfy me, only that if did put up those type of numbers, that should be enough to blow me away and dispel all of the haters. I do expect him to get to those numbers eventually, even if not next year though.

I’m with loyallaker

40% fg 35% 3pt 60% ft

With his continued excellent defense and hopefully being healthy and playing 70+ games, this would be a nice 2nd season from him. He is truly a player that isn’t going to shine offensively until his body matures. He’s going to be soft at the rim for a while. As long as I see improvement in all shooting % next year I’m good.

I'm tempted to create a word filter on this site that changes "Lavar Ball" to "Lonzo's Dad." He is TMZ fodder, no better than a Kardashian. I watch sports so I dont have to acknowledge celebrity culture and really wish posters would stop bringing that into the lounge. Last I checked, it was Lonzo Ball, not Lavar Ball, who is a laker. We should focus on the former, not the latter.

Please do, Reddit Lakers site got taken over by rabid BBB-stans who just dickride on LaVar all day.

I want LG free from that vermin.

We have the opposite problem here. Same solution though.

ii'm not ever going to say its okay for a perimeter player to have 60%ft even for zo who has become horrible at the line. Nope, can't allow that. I'm riding him until I see 80% from the line. aint no excuse to shoot below 80 as a primary ball handler. period. zero excuse. that is a pet peeve of mine.

Yup. Especially considering he used to be a solid FT shooter in high school.

I can see Lonzo's free throw improving dramatically while his FG/3P improve at a slower pace.

It's possible that Lonzo just needs to tweak a few things/slightly alter his FT form which makes it so much smoother for him and makes him jump in FT percentage. Because even with his (bleep) up form, I don't think he's a 45% shooter. Plus the same size was stupid small, and maybe 3-5 attempts a game (if that's realistic) will allow him to get a better in game flow.

While FG/3P slowly continue to rise as he grows into his body, gains more experience and the game slows down for him.

Yeah, I’m not saying that those are satisfactory numbers....but they would represent enough progress for his second year. He’s not going to jump from 45% to 80% in a year....eventually.

You could put any of the Lakers last year in the under 80 percent category. Clarkson was our best ft shooter st 78%, IT was probably the best after he was traded for Clarkson. I’m riding Ball BI, Hart, Kuzma, and Randle. The goal for all the players should be the eighty percent mark.

I had a conversation with some random Warriors fan I delivered food to through door dash and we somehow ended up talking about basketball and he was like "Lakers wasted a year tanking for Lonzo, good thing Kuzma saved y'all".

It's crazy how no one realizes how impactful Lonzo is even with his broke ass shot, people legit act like he some scrub based on his shooting numbers. Dude was a top 5 rookie in terms of impact IMO.
